An excellent introduction and overview for a first-time or returning visitor. Inspiration for further discoveries and valuable tips beyond your average guide(book) or website. Expert knowledge combined with anecdotal local insight, presented in a digestible and engaging manner in impeccable English. The tour makes you reflect upon and appreciate Berlin's defining historical moments and their link with architecture, urban planning and contemporary culture. An ideal balance between serious content and more light-hearted and friendly dialogue with a qualified professional. The personal viewpoints and interpretation provided food for thought. We particularly appreciated the effort to make the tour enjoyable even for children (aged 9-12) who remained engaged throughout and set up with appropriate bikes. When your bike tour is organised and run by a Dutchman, you are in good hands. :-) Also an asset in providing a refreshing and open-minded take on German history and culture.
I was nervous about this because I’d never driven abroad before, and now I was doing it for the first time in Berlin city centre. In a trabi. But I needn’t have worried - our guide was amazing; if you get such at traffic lights, everyone just pulls in and waits so there’s no chance of getting lost! The guide’s radio commentary gives a great insight into the city so it was a brilliant way to orientate ourselves on day one - and we laughed all the way round!Trying yo get to grips with driving the trabi was hilarious, definitely a highlight for our trip.
A great way to see Berlin, such a fun experience. Don't take it too seriously, you will laugh from start to finish, but it can be a struggle to hear the tour guide over the radio whilst you're driving the Trabi... The guide gives an excellent explanation of Trabant history whilst you top up with fuel half way around. The whole safari took almost 2 hours, so allow plenty of time for the tour. It was a crazy couple of hours... you must try it!
I bought the Trabi Safari tour as a 40th birthday present for my friend. He didn't want to drive, which I was quite happy about as I love driving abroad. Very unusual gear stick. I speak German but my friend doesn't, so Henrik (our enthusiastic encouraging guide) did the tour in both German and English. I haven't laughed so much in a very long time. This was definitely the highlight of our weekend in Berlin. Thanks Henrik!
We had Celine as our tour guide and she was incredibly knowledgeable + insightful. What made it exceptional were all the first-hand accounts of the experiences her parents had gone through and the stories of all the people she had met along the way who had experienced the cold war. Would highly recommend Celine as your tour guide and seeing Berlin by bike is a great way to discover the city.
