I was nervous about this because I’d never driven abroad before, and now I was doing it for the first time in Berlin city centre. In a trabi. But I needn’t have worried - our guide was amazing; if you get such at traffic lights, everyone just pulls in and waits so there’s no chance of getting lost! The guide’s radio commentary gives a great insight into the city so it was a brilliant way to orientate ourselves on day one - and we laughed all the way round!Trying yo get to grips with driving the trabi was hilarious, definitely a highlight for our trip.
Very interesting museum, I recommend everyone who comes to Berlin to visit it! Beside high level of interactivity which I liked, the museum is also very informative so everyone who wants to learn more about how living in Easter Germany was during the cold war should not miss this landmark. And buying online tickets definitely pays off since the line in front of the museum can be quite long. This was the most crowded place I visited in Berlin so it really tells you something the value of the place.
A great way to see Berlin, such a fun experience. Don't take it too seriously, you will laugh from start to finish, but it can be a struggle to hear the tour guide over the radio whilst you're driving the Trabi... The guide gives an excellent explanation of Trabant history whilst you top up with fuel half way around. The whole safari took almost 2 hours, so allow plenty of time for the tour. It was a crazy couple of hours... you must try it!
I bought the Trabi Safari tour as a 40th birthday present for my friend. He didn't want to drive, which I was quite happy about as I love driving abroad. Very unusual gear stick. I speak German but my friend doesn't, so Henrik (our enthusiastic encouraging guide) did the tour in both German and English. I haven't laughed so much in a very long time. This was definitely the highlight of our weekend in Berlin. Thanks Henrik!
Johan was our guide, and, boy, did he guide us on a glorious sunny day in Berlin for 4.5 glorious hours. Good to meet Murphy (Johan's dog) too. She was a star. Not only did were do Cold War sites and tales but were managed to fit in some Nazi/Hitler history too. Fantastic! Highly recommended. And a great way to see bits of Berlin you never otherwise would.
