Popular Alternative tours in Athens

We had fun, but we’re a little underwhelmed for the high cost. Our guide was lovely, and a lot is out of their control - the Acropolis is so busy and tour members can be tardy, which probably impacted how much time they had to speak. We enjoyed the Mythology, and it sets the tour apart from all the historical information you can get at the Acropolis museum. However, we really would have liked the myths to be supplemented with a bit more history (ie: the temple/sanctuary was built this date following this event, by this ruler, before or after this other monument. The reason it was put here: here’s the myth). We wouldn’t be as fussy and would have given 5 stars if it wasn’t so pricey. But still very enjoyable and a great supplement to the pure historical/archeological information at the Museum.

I would definitely recommend this tour, and if you only have one spare day for a trip while you're in Athens, I would make it this tour :-) It was a holiday highlight. Meteora was amazing and the views were awesome. Our tour guides, George and Jannis were lovely. The commentary was really informative and they were more than happy to take photos while you were there. I was really happy with the stop offs that we did on the tour - the hermit caves, followed by multiple stops for photos and two monasteries. We had a lovely day! It is a long day, but well worth it, and the tour wasn't as physically tiring as I expecting, due to the bus / group being fairly small and not having to walk for hours, which is a bonus. Thank you to George and Janni for a lovely time!

If you are visiting Greece, you HAVE to visit Meteora. One of the best days of our trip to Greece, the organization was perfect, we got everything on time (train tickets, reminders of the departure time, gathering point...etc). The bus was very comfortable. The guide and the driver were perfect and very nice, they provide us with all the information we needed, they were great photographers too ;) . This place is amazing. Do not hesitate and book your trip, you won't regret it!!

We learned a lot and enjoyed our guide’s descriptions of what the sites looked like when they were in use. She had a lot of good suggestions about other sites in Athens also. I just wish that we had known in advance what sites we would visit. We bought the combo tickets the previous day and visited two of the sites already, so had to buy another entrance ticket for those.

Really enjoyed this. We don’t normally do tours but this was really great value for money and packed full of excellent food, drinks and wine. I’d really recommend it to anyone who is in to food. Our guide was really informative, friendly and knowledgeable.
