Get a taste both for Scottish history and local produce on this full-day tour from Aberdeen. Visit a whisky distillery and 2 very special castles, Castle Fraser and Tolquhon Castle. Glen Garioch is the most easterly distillery in Scotland and has been making whisky since 1797 in what is affectionately known as a Highland-Speyside. Next, head to Castle Fraser, part of the National Trust for Scotland. Castle Fraser —not related to that famous Outlander, Jamie Fraser — is one of the few castles to have been managed by a Lady Laird and has an impressive avenue of trees and a landscaped garden. From Castle Fraser, move on to Tolquhon Castle, originally built in the early 1420s. Maintained by Historic Environment Scotland, the castle has some interesting architectural features and would have been a very comfortable home once upon a time. Although now a ruin, the castle is a playground with stairs and rooms to explore, and its charm is still strong. The tour concludes at the original meeting point.
