Full description
Depart from the old town of Edinburgh in the early morning and travel by coach or minivan into the Highlands. The further you get away from the city, the more dramatic the scenery will become. Drive through the Stirling district and enjoy views of Stirling Castle, a famous royal abode that was once the home to the mighty Stuart monarchs. Pull up in the picturesque town of Callander and hop off to stretch your legs. Look out for shaggy Highland cattle grazing in surrounding pastures. Continue north and watch the magnificent terrain becoming more and more rugged. Pause in the middle of Glencoe valley, where craggy mountains rise sharply on either side. Admire the sweeping vistas and take photos of the dramatic natural surroundings. Arrive in Fort Augustus and spend some time at your leisure. Cruise the calm waters of Loch Ness (at your own expense), tuck into a spot of lunch or take a relaxing stroll along the Caledonian Canal. Next, head back on the road toward the Commando Memorial. Get a close look the World War II monument and listen as your guide explains its significance and connection to the area.  As you’re driven to the next destination, look out the window for Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain. Hop off the coach once more at Loch Laggan to admire the powerful Laggan Dam. The next stop differs depending on the season. During summer, pay a visit to Dunkeld, where you can visit the historical cathedral and explore the pretty village. In winter, stop at Pitlochry and marvel at the salmon ladder, which helps migrating salmon navigate their way along the river, or if you fancy, sip on a dram of warming whisky in a local pub (own expense). The tour concludes later that evening back in Edinburgh Old Town.

the experience was very well organised, informative and enjoyable! The coach was comfortable and spacious. Our Italian guide, (who spoke in English very well) Serena was so lovely, very knowledgeable and approachable. We had enough time at each stop off point, with information of the history given along the way. Definitely recommend this experience!!

Challenging but very pleasant tour, especially thanks to Serena, our guide, a well of knowledge regarding Scotland. Once inside the Highlands, the stages gave us breathtaking views. Loch Ness mini cruise recommended. Very comfortable coach and excellent driving by Tony, the driver. You will spend most of your time traveling, but it will not be heavy thanks to the stories, the themed music and the beautiful Scottish landscapes you will pass through.

It was worth it! Tour studied very well (even for toilet breaks). The stages, from the first to the last, are very interesting. the views seen during the postcard journey. The stage in the middle of the exciting highlands. On our bus the guide Serena accompanied us throughout the trip with very interesting and detailed explanations of what we were seeing. Highly recommended!
