This innovative way of exploring Dublin is ideal for anyone who doesn't really like following tour guides and big crowds around a large area. I went with my sister (both in our early 30s) and had only a few hours to spend in the city, so this interactive tour was just what we needed, as it combined a thrilling story with major tourist attractions! The overall distance was easily walkable, by the way, and, since we happened to take the tour around Christmas time, we particularly enjoyed the beautiful lights and decorations around the city. The only problem we faced was the unexpected rain (we had booked many days in advance) which enhanced the spooky feeling of the story behind the tour, but forced us to cheat on the first and last question-riddle by using help from the Internet (sorry!), as we really needed to avoid going some extra distance! Overall, it was a very nice experience and we would definitely recommend it to small groups of friends (2-3 would be just perfect).
Book with the Irish Whiskey Museum. It’s that straight forward - absolutely excellent! It’s not sponsored so no brand promoted over anything else - no leprechauns or 4 leaf clovers mentioned. What is though , is a decent amount of social history around the grain and the process of distillation. Oh and of course a grand guided tasting session - great choices, very well presented , a lot of fun had- possibly bit more of a challenge if english isn’t your first language. The whiskey museum shop is fantastic - all choices represented . This museum and the EPIC museum give a sense of the actual rather than then blarney...well until the grain starts talking...slainte !
I am very glad I chose this tour over the Jameson tour. Not only is it cheaper and you get to blend a small bottle to take away, but you actually get to try 4 authentic Irish whiskeys, some that are very difficult to find outside of the country! It was a small group with a friendly guide named Mark who was funny and very helpful with his recommendations. Overall a good experience even if it proved whiskey isn't my drink of choice!
We really enjoyed our Dublin Rogues Tour, Dave was extremely entertaining and it was interesting to hear his stories about the characters behind the statues in Merrion Square and also about the history of the square and its surroundings. He is a great ambassador for Dublin and dressed to suit the role. Will recommend tuis tour to all my friends.
I booked this for my husbands birthday with a few friends and he loved it. He actually learned a lot and really enjoyed it
