From Dubbo, you can access the zoo by bike or on foot using the Tracker Riley Cycleway. The cycleway is part of a 13-kilometer loop that provides access to the zoo from either side of the Macquarie River. It begins at the LH Ford Bridge over the Macquarie River and passes through Sir Roden Cutler Park on the way to Taronga Western Plains Zoo. The cycleway continues onto Dundullimal Homestead and crosses the river again, connecting with Macquarie Street. For those driving their own cars, free parking at the zoo is available both at the Savannah Visitor Plaza and in parking bays throughout the zoo circuit. Dedicated caravan and trailer parking are available inside the entry gates. Taronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo is a 5 to 6-hour drive from Sydney, Canberra, and Newcastle.
