Full description

Enjoy a desert safari in Dubai. Ride a camel, enjoy exhilarating dune bashing, and have an authentic barbecue while enjoying the traditional dance. Then stay overnight in a Bedouin tent, and go on a camel trek the next day.

After being collected from your accommodation in a comfortable 4WD vehicle, you will head to the Lahbab desert. Once in the desert, you will have some free time before your safari starts.

Relax here or opt to go for a quad-bike ride while your vehicle for the off-road dune drive is prepared, the choice is yours. Next up you will enjoy a dune bashing ride, feel the adrenaline rush as your vehicle climbs up and slides down the sand dunes.

Afterward, you can try sandboarding. Stand on the wooden board provided, balance yourself, and glide down over the sands. Next up, head to Al Khayma, a Bedouin-type campsite, where you will be led to your own tent (Khayma) inside the camp. After settling in here, you can taste Gahwa (Arabic coffee), Gaymat (sweets), and dates as a sign of welcome.

Head out for a camel ride around the camp premises, and depending on the time and luck, view the sunset over the desert. Back at Al Khayma Camp, you can spend your time smoking shisha and henna painting.

Don local Arabian clothes and pose for photos with a falcon, and at the camp center stage, a Tanoura dance will be performed. Enjoy a lavish buffet dinner full of barbecue dishes, while on the stage, a Khaliji dancer will keep you entertained. Following dinner, you will be taken by camel to a nearby camp area where a fire will be arranged for you. Learn how to make Arabic coffee/tea, whilst you relax in the night sitting by the campfire, enjoying the silence of the desert and the dark sky above.

Your desert guide will add to the fun with interesting desert stories, and when it’s time to sleep, you will return to the camp. You will retire back to your tent for an overnight stay. The following morning, wake up just before sunrise to witness a spectacular view. Your guide will take you to the desert with a camel caravan that is waiting outside the camp.

Then go for a short camel trek capturing the nice view of the sunrise over the sand dunes. After camel trekking, you will return to your tent before eating a freshly cooked Arabian breakfast.

Later, you will be driven back to Dubai and dropped off at your accommodation.

Oceanair Travels was our local tour operator and our guide, Yasir, made us feel welcome right from the start. He is a true professional; not only a skilled dune-bashing driver but also a seasoned photographer and is especially great with kids. The turn-around from after dinner to tented sleeping quarters took longer than expected. Everything else (food and entertainment) was great apart from this only disappointment.

This is an outing that I would do again and again. If you are on the fence about overnight or not I encourage you to do overnight. Especially if you consider yourself an adventurer like we do here at Way Into Adventures on YT. It’s a fun time. The food is abundant and staff helpful and friendly. The sales kiosks are touristy so take that into consideration before buying souvenirs. We truly enjoyed the experience and it will be part of one of our upcoming adventure videos. We were especially lucky to be in the vehicle with wonderful people who quickly became friends. Naveed, our guide, was experienced and knew how to make a trip go smoothly. He’s able to help his group find the best of each activity and is a wonderful help with photography. He has a level of knowledge that I think is exceptional. Be sure to plan at least an hour in the sheesha tent before bedtime. Lots of new friends to be made there!

Great experience! Imram is a great guide and takes great photos and videos. It starts with quad or buggy driving. Followed by a sand bashing tour with Imram. Photo stop with sandboarding. Arrived at the camp camel ride and in the evening a great show with 3 acts and delicious food. At 9pm the day guests are driven home and the overnight guests meet in the shisha lounge while the tents are made up with beds (which are quite hard). According to Imram, however, many have complained about back pain, which is why they keep the hard mattresses. It starts at 6 a.m. in the morning. You can ride the camel into the sunrise and there is a hearty breakfast. Then it's back to the hotel. We were back at the hotel at 9 o'clock. The overnight stay is highly recommended to have the full experience!
