Full description
Historical Walking Tour: Travel back in time, and immerse yourself in the history and culture of Dresden. Hear facts and stories from your experienced and licensed tour guide, who will bring the city's past back to life. Discover the dark times of the Middle Ages, the vigor of the Renaissance, and the grandeur of the Baroque. Explore the backgrounds of the Peaceful Revolution of 1989 and hear what it must have felt like to the people of former East and West Germany. The walking tour through the historic old town starts at Neumarkt. See Dresden's most famous attractions, including the Frauenkirche, the Semperoper, and the Baroque Zwinger. From Dresden Castle, head to Brühl's Terrace and the Procession of Princes and Stallhof, until you arrive at Dresden Cathedral. Then, follow your guide to the Taschenbergpalais and Augustus Bridge, before ending your walking tour near Frauenkirche. Chocolate Museum: Included with your tour is entry to Dresden's chocolate museum, which you can visit either before or after your walking tour. Dresden was known as Germany's "capital of chocolate" and is considered to be the place where milk chocolate was invented. From here it was exported worldwide. Experience this delicacy's fascinating history and what really good chocolate is all about. Learn surprising facts about the numerous chocolate factories in 19th-century Dresden. Discover one of the world's largest collections of chocolate moulds by Anton Reiche and trace the long path from cocoa bean to delicious chocolate. Afterward, find out what the first chocolate bars may have tasted like and what really good milk chocolate tastes like today.
