Domaine de Baronarques is owned by the Baroness Philippine de Rothschild and of her two sons, Philippe Sereys de Rothschild and Julien de Beaumarchais de Rothschild since 1998. This is a very old estate as it already existed in the 17th century, when it belonged to the Abbey de Saint-Polycarpe. The Domaine de Baronarques is today a famous winery of Languedoc. It is the result of the association between a very promising region and a famous Bordeaux family, which already owns several Grands Crus Classés such as the illustrious Château Mouton Rothschild. The winery has a 43 hectares vineyard and is located near Limoux, close to the Pyrénées and Carcassonne. The red wine vineyard is composed of 70 % of Bordeaux grape varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc) and of 30% of Mediterranean grape varieties (Syrah, Malbec). The white wine vineyard is 100% composed of Chardonnay. This blend of numerous grape varieties is a key ingredient for the production of unique, intense and complex wines, still faithful to their origin terroir. “After Opus One and Almaviva, I am back to my native region, the Languedoc, with the same ambition : a promising terroir to make a great wine.” Baroness Philippine de Rothschild.
