Danube Bend: Full-Day Hiking Tour from Budapest

2. Danube Bend: Full-Day Hiking Tour from Budapest

Embark on a full-day, guided hike just outside of Budapest through the Danube Bend, including hotel pickup and drop-off via an air conditioned and comfortable van. A memorable day for lovers of nature and the outdoors awaits. Spend the day in the volcanic Visegradi Hills, where the memory of the old volcano still pervades. The volcano is no longer active, so there remains no danger. The starting point of the hike is at a tiny, romantic village on the coast of the Danube, called Dömös. Begin with the steepest climb of the day while you're still feeling fresh. After the climb, you'll find yourself on a ridge that offers beautiful panoramic views over the river and surrounding mountains. As you look around, check out the huge volcanic rocks that were left behind after the ancient eruption. After a few hundred yards more, climb to Predikaloszek, the summit with some of the best views in Hungary. This place is very famous among locals and visited the whole year through by nature-lovers. Stop for a snack at the lookout and take in the amazing scenery. After refueling, a nice and long downhill trek is waiting for you through a wild and untouched valley. During the descent, observe the power of water; see how it created ravines in the soil of the forest. Before starting your climb in the canyon, refill your bottles with clear spring water from water reservoirs. The Ram Canyon is a great adventure for all ages, boasting a nice cool climate, great depth, and waterfalls to climb with the help of ladders and rails. Head back toward the starting point filled with positive energy and unforgettable experiences. The whole hike is just over 11 miles; the trip is recommended for experienced hikes, but manageable for anyone who is in good physical condition.

What people are saying about Danube Bend

I went solo on this hiking trip and really enjoyed it. Even tough it was a rainy it was still nice and could still admire the view from the summit. Thanks to Gyuri (guide) and his patience I went at my own pace and took all the breaks I needed especially in the uphill part. Enjoyed hearing the sound of the birds along the trek and completely disconnected from the busy life. I am happy that I have decided to do it!

This is a definite "must-do" if you love nature and need a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Gyuri (the guide) was very patient and hiked at my pace (he also took plenty of amazing pictures which was an added bonus).

Guide very informative about sights and history. Too much walking for my husband but cute town to explore.

It was lovely..the guide Dory was sweet, patient and explained everything well.. will plan more trips
