I had great time! You wake up before sunrise and go on this long bus trip up to the base of the mountain. There, they stop at a small town and give you some breakfast. take this opportunity to eat really well, and drink a lot of water, you will need the energy. After that we continued up, it is so nice to have to transportation taken care of because honestly I would not have felt comfortable driving along those steep mountain roads myself. we then made the climb, spent about an hour or so at the glacier, we sat together while our guide gave us an explanation of the surrounding areas. The climbed back down, stopped for a very good late lunch, and they dropped us back in town. Just to note- The climb up to the glacier is REALLY HARD. Im in my late twenties, I am pretty athletic shape, my only health issue is that I have mild asthma. Im not sure if I would recommend it the anyone with more severe health issues. The altitude really messed with a lot of people, bring coca leaves to chew.

This is, in theory, a great tour. One thing you need to know right away, though, is that the drive to get there isn’t for anyone who struggles with motion sickness. I took Dramamine and altitude meds and it was still really rough. It’s also a 3 hour drive each way from Cusco...rough roads and tons of winding. The hike itself is stunning. We took horses going up to save our energy, and that gave us a chance to actually look around us instead of watching every step. We had an hour at the lake, which is beautiful. The hike down took about an hour, and you’ll need good shoes/hiking boots because it’s steep and rocky. Cesar was our guide, and he is awesome. This is a tour that’s worth it as long as you can handle getting there and back.

Super organization by the company, the care is done early so that we are the first to arrive at the lake and we are not disappointed by the beauty of the place! Attention at least sporty, it's a difficult hike but the horses are there to help people in difficulty.
