Day 1: Arrival in Cusco

According to your flight schedule in Cusco, get picked up from the airport and then transferred to your hotel. Take a free day to acclimatize and rest or opt to walk around the historic center of Cusco. That evening, lodge at the Ayni Cusco Hotel or similar.

Day 2: Tour of Chinchero, Maras, and Moray

This day begins with an adventure through the incredible landscapes of Cusco. Start with pickup from the hotel before heading to the colorful town of Chinchero. Continue towards the famous circular cultivation terraces in Moray.

In Moray, the area's ancestors, the Incas, experimented to find out the type of product for each floor. Later, descend towards the salt mines in Maras, a picturesque place with spectacular landscapes.

Finally, go to Ollantaytambo Station to take the train to Aguas Calientes, the closest town to Machu Picchu. In Aguas Calientes, enjoy time to rest. That evening, you'll stay at the Golden Sunrise Hotel or similar.

Day 3: Visit to the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu

This day will be one of the best of your tour, as you'll visit one of the 7 Wonders of the World: Machu Picchu.

Follow your private tour guide through the best-known sites of the Inca citadel during 2 hours of on-site guidance. Take in the historical sanctuary while capturing memorable moments with your camera. In the evening, stay overnight at the Ayni Cusco Hotel.

Day 4: Rainbow Mountain

Your day will begin very early in the morning with hotel pickup. From there, venture to the south of the city, crossing fields, rivers, mountains, and villages. Travel for about 2 hours until you reach the town of Cusipata to enjoy a local breakfast. Following breakfast, drive for another 45 minutes, observing beautiful landscapes, canyons, glaciers, and herds of llamas and alpacas, before reaching the starting point of your hike in Pulawasipata.

Walk for approximately 2 hours until you reach the Mountain of Colors, also known as Rainbow Mountain or Winincunca. At the top of the mountain, get plenty of time to take photographs and enjoy the landscape.

That evening you'll once again lodge at the Ayni Cusco Hotel or similar.

The 5 day imperial journey was great. Everything was taken care of in terms of hotels and transfers for all the activities. Our guide Julio was amazing, he didn’t expect to have a private tour guide for the trip. He gave us the history of the Inka people and was never pushy on us to purchase anything. Inkayni Peru Tours organised everything very well. I would say that the Rainbow Mountain hike was the most difficult and that took it out of us. Our tour guide changed and we were outsourced to another tour company. Be mentally prepared for Rainbow Mountain, it is high altitude 5,200m and so if you are not a hiker then take the horse! The Rainbow Mountain is the activity I least enjoyed, very busy and it was just for that perfect Instagram picture which you’ll need to line up for! The journey was around 3 hours each way. Overall, we enjoyed the trip and it was hassle free. Hotels in Cusco and Agua Calientes are basic but services are good. You’ll be exploring anyways!
