This was our favourite tour of the trip. Being able to go into the undeground area and then stand on the upper floor looking out enabled your imagination to fill in the gaps. Our tour guide was brilliant, he had a great knowledge and the pitch of his voice togher with his clear english (even though english clearly wasnt his first language) I cannot fault. It is definitley worth spending on a guide as opposed to just wandering around yourself. Visiting early November was good too, the weather was warm enough for t-shirts cool enough to enjoy long walks in the city. Plus the crowds were minimal.

We met our guide, Andrea, who proceeded to tell us exactly how the tour would work and what we would see. He guided us through security and talked about the Colosseum and its history while we waited for our guide to accompany us to the underground level. Andrea was extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer every question we threw in his direction. He really made us appreciate what a marvel the Colosseum is. After touring the underground, arena floor and upper level of the Colosseum, we made our way to the Palatine hill and then from there down to the forum. Andrea was engaging and interesting the entire time. All in all, an excellent tour.

Antonio was brilliant, extremely knowledgeable giving us great facts throughout the tour. Going underground was well worth the extra money to see where the Gladiators and animals were before they went into the Arena. We were not rushed at any stage and there were plenty opportunities for photos along the way. The fact that we all had audio headsets so that we could hear Antonio clearly meant we didn't have to huddle together to hear him and you could hold back for a few minutes looking at something and still hear him. In Covid times it also meant we didn't have to stand so close together either. The tour to the Forum was shorter but just as interesting, we got to see all the main buildings getting good stories along the way
