Activity excellent - your instructions to Meeting Place TERRIBLE

You need to let people know where they are going - I missed my tour!!! I was driving to Quebec City and had never been there before. All I knew was the meeting place was at Quartier Petit Champlain (shopping area at the BOTTOM level of the mountain). I drove and parked there an hour early. I followed your instructions, and was given a GPS map showing a 9 minute walk to the Meeting Place. I started the walk 30 minutes before I was to be there. No mention that I would be walking almost straight uphill and there were hundreds of stairs to climb. No mention that I could have taken the Funicular, no mention that I could have driven or taken a taxi to the top!! Needless to say, I couldn't make it in time....I couldn't even make it to the top! If you had simply said the meeting place is on the Boardwalk adjacent to the hotel, and then provided the GPS map, it would have been clear. Keeping the final destination a secret is ridiculous. Yes, they did allow me to go on later tour.

Overall, I was underwhelmed with this tour. I really wanted to love it but I think we spent more time seeing pictures from a binder of the hotel VS actually seeing the hotel. We saw two important rooms/aspects of the hotel and then the rest was walking through crowded hall ways on our not so private tour. The tour guide was really knowledgeable and liked the topic a lot. It was clear! But I wished we’d been able to see more of the “unseeable” things (a room, servants quarters, ballroom etc). This tour took place mostly in crowded hallways and narrow landings. If you’re looking for an actual tour of the hotel itself, this isn’t it.

Very interesting history along with guided tour of hotel, going to several parts of the hotel a wandering visitor either would not have access to or would not get the history of. Our guide, Joseph, the mayor of the time of the beginning of the hotel, was very well informed and gave an entertaining guided tour.

This exceeded our expectations. Our lovely guide was very informative. We learned a great deal about Chateau Frontenac’s history. Highly recommend!

This was the first thing we did in Quebec City and it was a great way to begin our adventure with a basic knowledge of the history of the city!
