Full description
After pickup from your hotel, begin your tour with a breathtaking view of Jerusalem from Mount Olives, above the ancient Jewish cemetery. As if in the palm of your hand, see the Old City and the Temple Mount area spread before you, and imagine the Second Temple and Solomon’s Temple, destroyed in 70 A.D. and 586 B.C. respectively.
Next, drive along the Kidron Valley and enjoy an excellent view of the Garden of Gethsemane, the Church of All Nations, and the monumental ancient Jewish burial tombs. Enter the Old City through the Zion Gate, passing the Armenian Quarter to the excavated Byzantine Cardo. On this 1,500-year-old main street, excavated Crusader shops are now modern stores.
Continuing through the Jewish Quarter, proceed to the Kotel, the Western Wall. This 2,000-year-old wall is part of the encircling and supporting wall built by King Herod when the Temple Mount area was enlarged. Walk along the Via Dolorosa and join the many pilgrims following the Stations of the Cross to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the church built over the site of Jesus' crucifixion and the burial tomb.
After a short stroll through the market place, exit the Old City and continue to Yad VeShem, the Holocaust Museum commemorating both the annihilation of 6 million Jews and the righteous among the nations who risked their lives while trying to save Jews. The tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel in Jerusalem.
