Tram ride is a good informative way to find out about the central city. A shame to be told you need to pay an extra $10 each to get to the gondola ride and back. We had metro cards so caught the local bus instead which was much cheaper. All in all a great day out.

    Almost excellent...

I would have rated it excellent had i known beforehand that we had to catch a shuttle bus from the tramway to the gondola. Happy to just add the $10 fee to the combo cost. Of course being in a gondola forth from the bottom coming down and seeing the shuttle pull away, knowing we had an hour to kill before the next one, didn't help.

Combined ticket for the gondola ride and a day ticket for the historic tram. The gondola ride takes 5 minutes. At the mountain station there is a cafe, a souvenir shop and an adventure train (journey takes 7 minutes). You have to take the shuttle bus to the gondola (departure from the Canterbury Museum, cost $ 10). The tram ride is great, there are several different trains and the comments are spoken live. The route is not too long but nice.
