1. Oxford: Harry Potter Walking Tour Including Christ Church

Meet your Oxford University student guide in central Oxford and head for the Hogwarts' Infirmary, set in one of the halls of the famous Bodleian Library. Imagine the infirmary’s beds in place here, and admire the richly sculpted beasts and biblical carvings that appeared in many of the Harry Potter movies. Next, explore one or two of Oxford’s oldest colleges, delving into the rooms and cloisters that featured as Hogwarts’ gloomy interior. See other filming locations and hear trivia about the characters and movie productions. Test your knowledge of all things Harry Potter with our custom quiz. Along the way, hear about Oxford’s influence in famous children’s literature, from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland to The Hobbit. Finish with a tour of Christ Church (founded 1524) whose hall was an inspiration and not the actual Dining Hall at Hogwarts. This part of the tour will be a self-guided one with a multimedia guide.

Oxford: Christ Church Harry Potter Film Locations Tour

2. Oxford: Christ Church Harry Potter Film Locations Tour

Enjoy a 2-hour walking tour introducing the making of Harry Potter in Oxford and a 1-hour entry ticket and audio guided tour inside Christ Church College. See and hear about both Harry Potter and Lewis Carroll’s legendary characters, such as Alice and the Mad Hatter. Book in advance to beat the queues at Christ Church, Oxford's most popular tourist attraction. Admire views onto Christ Church Meadows on the borders of the rivers Cherwell and Isis. See longhorn cattle graze and the dreamy spires of Merton College and Corpus Christi. Access permitting, you will also see inside another Harry Potter film site, the Divinity School at the famous Bodleian Library, one of the oldest libraries in Europe. On any dates when Christ Church may be closed, you can instead visit inside of New College instead, another great Hogwarts film site. On this tour, you will visit 2 of the 3 film sites (where and when access is permitted). While you may visit Divinity School, you will not visit inside the medieval library as it is not open to private guides.  On Saturday mornings, Christ Church Hall is rarely open but the tour runs anyway as the hall is not the actual film site. The film sites were the cloisters and staircase but the hall is one of three Oxford colleges which Warner Bros asked to film at and thus is an inspiration for the Great Hall.

What people are saying about Christ Church, Oxford

My Harry Potter walking tour experience was with a superbe guide, Jamie. He was a nice person that knows a lot about the city, history and of course Harry Potter! The tour is also good for people that doesn't know a lot Harry Potter because Jamie was so able to describe scenes of Harry Potter that, even if I only have seen one time the film, I can remember it. Excellent!

Excellent visit, our tour focused on Harry Potter and Alice in wonderland, but there was enough for any interest. The guide (Peter) was excellent, very good explanations, lively, good with kids, but also attentive to what adults wanted to learn. Highly recommended.

Richard was incredibly knowledgeable and fun - the entire concept of touring a place with such history like Oxford paired with the working knowledge of the present workings helps ground the fantastic access and foundational knowledge. Highly recommend!

Jessica was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and she tailored the tour to our interests. We learned a lot and loved the experience.

Our guide, Lizzie, was outstanding. Knowledgeable, delightful, and flexible.
