From Phuket: James Bond Island & Canoe Tour by Longtail Boat

2. From Phuket: James Bond Island & Canoe Tour by Longtail Boat

Paddle a canoe and ride a longtail boat on this multi-stop adventure tour from Phuket with private and shared options. Taste local food, swim at Talu Cave, and visit James Bond Island to see the majestic limestone karsts made famous by the 1974 James Bond movie, “The Man with the Golden Gun.” After pickup from your hotel in Phuket, head straight to the first stop of the day, Wat Suwan Khuha, also known as the Monkey Cave, because of the cheeky primates living in the temple complex. Descend into the cave temple and look at the statues and carvings before making your way to the pier. Next, board a longtail boat and sail to the second stop, Panyee Island, also known as the Floating Village. Built on stilts by the local fishermen, the island has been inhabited since the 18th century. Explore the village, taking in local life, before having lunch at a restaurant in the village. After stuffing your belly with delicious local fare, board the boat again to make your way to Talu Cave. Enjoy some free time to canoe in the beautiful blue water. Explore the cave area, where you will find incredible stalactites and stalagmites and unusually shaped rock formations. Then, continue to the day’s main attraction, James Bond Island. Stop at the perfect viewpoint to see the breathtaking 20-meter rock formation, a solitary cliff surrounded by turquoise waters and cliffs. Admire the unforgettable picturesque scenery before starting the journey back to Phuket.

An excellent tour to enjoy a combo of monkey sightings, cave temple visit, longboat and canoe experience, local food, and loads of sun! Note: this trip does not include swimming or snorkeling stops. Group size is limited to 9 people, and if you're lucky, yours might end up being as small as 2-3 ppl. The day starts with a 1.5hr drive in a comfy, air-conditioned mini van from your accommodation. All stops have toilet facilities and water/snack purchase options. Our tour guide, August, and our driver, John were exceptional and schedule was respected throughout. Wear comfortable clothing, consider a bathing suit for some longboat tanning, and be prepared for getting slightly wet during the canoe ride (2ppl max, operated by staff). Bring sunscreen and purchase a phone waterproof case from the James Bond island souvenir stands to make the most of picture taking safely. Lunch provided at the Muslim floating village was rich and truly local. Overall a great experience; great value for money!

This was a very enjoyable tour. The floating village and canoe ride were unique experiences. There were very few people when we arrived at the James Bond island, we were lucky I guess. The small group size (limited to 9 people) makes it feel more personal. Our guide, Pai, was very friendly and provided lots of information about the places we visited and made us feel very safe. Also the driver, Cha, was very friendly and professional. I totally recommend this tour!

Maria was an amazing guide! She was funny, engaging, informative, and friendly. The tour was incredible! The boat ride was absolutely breathtaking, our canoe captain was hilarious, the floating village was very interesting with a delicious and filling lunch, and the monkey temple was okay. We got to do so much, but never felt rushed! One of my favorite day tours ever. If you book this, I hope you get Maria as your guide!

Amazing once in a lifetime opportunity. Elephants are treated humanly and are in excellent condition/health. You get plenty of time to spend with and get to know personality of each elephant (10 in total on park), activities include preparing food and hand feeding elephants and also bathing.

Lovely experience, glad to repeat it. Useful to bring water shoes if bathing with the elephants.
