Munich by Bike: Half-Day Tour with Local Guide

1. Munich by Bike: Half-Day Tour with Local Guide

Starting from the Hauptbahnhof (Central Train Station), this half-day bicycle tour is a great way to see the city of Munich. Guides are local Munich residents who know the best routes, the best stories, and the best spots to stop for a quick drink. The first stop of the tour is the Neoclassical square, Königsplatz, often called Munich's Acropolis. A few minutes away is the impressive Odeonsplatz. Both are the legacy of King Ludwig I of Bavaria, a 19th-century monarch who wanted to make a grand city for kings. He actually succeeded in making Munich a great city for cyclists. From Odeonsplatz, you'll cycle through the picturesque royal gardens to the Englischer Garten, Europe's largest city park, where nudity happens to be legal. Then the tour stops at the famous Chinese Tower beer garden for refreshments. Cruise along the lovely banks of the river Isar, which leads back into the heart of Munich's beautiful Old Town. The charming pedestrianized Medieval streets around Marienplatz feature churches, markets, and cafes, and are a cyclist's heaven.

Stephanie was an excellent guide; she had a really deep and broad knowledge on the history of munch - with some additional anecdotes and fables to help us learn more. The bike was great and the cycling route was nice. The tour lasted 4 hours with approx. 3.5 hours on the bike. I'd have liked to know the cycling route upfront as there are areas of munich not included on the tour, so I'd have liked to be able to plan my trip to include these outside of the bike tour.

A brilliant tour. First time in munchen and this was a highlight. I would recommend this tour and also radius tours. We hired a bike from them the next day to explore more sights. They were so helpful and the bikes were great would 100% recommend you use them. Thanks for making my birthday weekend a great one!

Steve-o was a laugh and knew the city inside and out! Our daughter (12) had no problem keeping up and enjoyed the tour as much as we did. Great activity to find out more about a great city and it’s history!

We went on several day trips while staying in Munich, which, frankly, I was more excited about than this bike tour. Happily, this tour ended up being the favorite thing we did. Susanne was very informative.

We went on an awesome half day bike tour with Dani - she was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and took us on a very informative and fun tour of Munich. We'd highly recommend it to anyone.
