From Munich: Salzburg, St. Wolfgang, and the Salzkammergut

1. From Munich: Salzburg, St. Wolfgang, and the Salzkammergut

This trip will take you through the picturesque foothills of the Bavarian Alps. You'll be able to see the enchanting Chiemsee, also called the "Bavarian Sea," which, with an area of nearly 80 km², is the largest lake in Bavaria. In Salzburg, the city of Mozart, you will have around 2.5 hours to see the city's impressive buildings, take in the vistas, and wander through the beautiful Baroque old town. Of particular note are, for example, the Hohensalzburg fortress and the birthplace of Mozart. The cathedral, Hellbrunn Palace, and the fountains are not to be missed. The old town offers many other worthwhile attractions, from fine boutiques and culinary delicacies to art, culture, and all else the heart could desire. The next part of the tour takes place in the summer only (from April until November): The tour will then take you onwards through the Salzkammergut to the Wolfgangsee. There you will have the chance to take a boat trip to St. Wolfgang, to the Hotel zum Weißen Rössl, and to visit the pilgrimage church. There is one more exciting highlight waiting for you on the return journey : a stop at the Mondsee, a location for the film "The Trapp Family." Be enthralled by this tour to Salzburg and the Salzkammergut. If you're visiting during the winter (from November to April), instead of the visit to St. Wolfgang you'll get to enjoy more time in Salzburg. During December you'll also be able to visit the Christkindlmarket.

From Munich: Herrenchiemsee Palace and Boat Trip Day-Tour

4. From Munich: Herrenchiemsee Palace and Boat Trip Day-Tour

Spend a lovely day out on a boat exploring the beautiful Chiemsee and its two picturesque islands, the Herreninsel and the Fraueninsel. Known as “the Bavarian Ocean,” Chiemsee is the largest fresh-water lake near Munich. Herreninsel boasts wonderful Herrenchiemsee, a palace built by King Ludwig II in 1878 in the image of Versailles in France. In some respects, however, Herrenchiemsee actually surpasses Versailes – its Hall of Mirrors is a famous example. With its elegant gardens and walkways and the beautiful interiors of gold, glass, and porcelain, the palace is a visually stunning monument to opulence. King Ludwig's difficult personality is reflected in his famous elevated dining table, which was raised and lowered through the floor so the reclusive King did not have to see his servants. This tour gives you the full story of Chiemsee and its islands. You even get the option of touring the interior of the palace. This full day tour is one of the most unique and special touring experiences in Germany.

The tour was well organized and we had an unforgettable day at and on the Chiemsee with the best weather for excursions. Our guide / driver (Mario) was well informed and always on time. We also really liked the fact that we had free time in the afternoon and were able to explore the Fraueninsel “on our own”.

I liked the excursion, but I would like all the information provided by the guide to be duplicated on the audio guide in Russian, besides, the information was included with a great delay.

The tour is very good, it is a very nice excursion, but I had hired an excursion with a guide in Spanish and it was in English

Enough time in all places and great scenery. Tour guide was also very funny and bus was comfortable.

Great experience, wonderful guide! Be sure to carry your passport and vaccine documents.
