Full description
Be immersed in a traditional Mayan experience where food, history and culture come together. Using recipes handed down through generations, learn how to make tortillas with an ancient method of cooking – the ‘pib’ or buried oven. You will be picked up from your accommodation in Mérida, before arriving at Chef Rosalía Chay’s home in the Yukatan jungle. Take a seat at the family table for lunch where you will have the opportunity to try traditional dishes like Cochinita and Relleno Negro. After lunch, travel back in time to the ancient capital of the Mayan empire: Chichén Itzá. Explore the site with a certified, local tour guide and learn more about the ancient civilisation. See the Temple of the Warriors, the Kukulkan Pyramid, the Tzompantli, and more. At the end of the day, you will be dropped off at your accommodation with a full stomach and an experience to remember.

The experience exceeded all our expectations !!! It was incredible from start to finish ... from knowing the chef's house, meeting the family and all the people involved in the project, learning about the history, seeing the whole process involved in cooking this food, learning about their ancestral traditions and understanding why These dishes are so delicious with unique ingredients and a top chef… we really enjoyed it very much. Claudia was the best taking us by the hand of the Chef and her culture throughout this gastronomic experience… it was also incredible to participate in the preparation of the collection and making our own omelette that we later ate delicious hahaha! And well, eat the ready-made dishes that I can say ... the most delicious I've ever tasted hahaha, I don't even know how many cochinita tacos and black stuffing I ate but without a doubt each one was worth it. We thank everyone who welcomed us at the chef's house and made us feel at home.
