Located 76km west of Chania, in the South-West tip of Crete, this peninsula forms part of a protected area and is home to the endangered loggerhead sea turtle as well as other rare plants and animals. The day begins with pick up from specific points in Chania. Then, travel approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes in a comfortable, air-conditioned bus to arrive at Elafonisi beach. At the beach, you'll have the chance to explore the area on your own. Wander through sand dunes or just enjoy a relaxing swim. Those traveling with children will enjoy the shallow lagoons, which are perfect for wading and exploring. Be sure to bring your camera, as you'll want to get a picture of the pinkish sand – a color it gets from the millions of crushed shells. In the mid-afternoon, the bus departs for the return trip to Elafonisi.

On this full-day trip, you’ll travel from Georgioupolis to the southwest corner of Crete and spend a relaxing day on the pink beaches of the small island of Elafonisi.  During the 3-hour drive to the island, you can sit back and relax, admiring the beauty of the lush green landscapes, traditional villages, and a small church built inside a cave along the way. After taking a short break to stop for a drink, you’ll reach your destination, Elafonisi,  a picturesque bathing paradise with an island that can be easily reached by foot. The water on the island is shallow, clear and gleams with beautiful shades of blue and green. You’ll have plenty of time to unwind on the beach and to purchase snacks and drinks on the island before returning to Georgioupolis in the evening.

The bus departs around 09:00 from Rethymno for the drive to Crete’s capital city of Chania, the most beautiful town on the island. Settled more than 4,000 years ago, Chania is one of the oldest cities in Europe. On this full-day excursion you’ll have 5 hours to explore Chania, with plenty of free time for a romantic walk through the idyllic old town. Visit historic neighborhoods, churches and museums and take a walk to the beautiful Venetian Port for shopping, a cup Greek coffee and lunch (not included in the tour price). At around 16:00 the bus will depart for the return trip to Rethymno.

We reach the famous beach of Matala. This is the place where Zeus, having taken the form a bull, swam ashore with Europa on his back before dragging her off to Gortys. Both the Minoans and the Romans used the place as their harbor. Nevertheless, for most people, Matala means only one thing: hippies. Back in the late 1960s - 1970s, this little town was a colony of the “flower children”, who lived in the caves that used to be former Roman tombs. The Venetian port of Chania is really close to this street. You can admire the beautiful view while you are drinking a coffee or having lunch at the restaurants. At 3 PM, be back at the meeting point to board the bus. The driver will take you back to your hotel hassle-free at approximately 4 PM.
