Begin your tour by meeting your guide at your hotel and make your way into central Lucerne. Close to the train station, your tour guide will board a boat to take a cruise on Lake Lucerne with you. Enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains and look back towards the city before arriving in Vitznau after an hour on the water. Across the boat station, your tour guide will lead you to the cogwheel railway. The 35-minute journey takes you from 1,440 ft (438m) above sea level to the top of Mount Rigi at an altitude of 5,900 ft (1798m). During the steep ride, enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding area. Once you and your tour guide arrive at the top, walk up within 5 minutes to the panoramic platform where you can see Swiss scenery all around. The guide is available, to take pictures of you in front of the mountains. For lunch, choose from two different restaurants and if the weather is good, take a seat outside on the terrace and enjoy the panorama.  On the descent, your tour guide will show you a alternate route: descending by cogwheel railway to Arth-Goldau - the east side of Mount Rigi. After arrival and a short walk to the train station, your tour guide will take you back to Lucerne. The tour will end at Lucerne train station or your tour guide will lead you back to your hotel.

From there, an intercity train will take you within 1 hour into central Lucerne. After a short stroll from the train station, you and your tour guide will board a boat and set off on your cruise on Lake Lucerne. Enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and look back towards the city before arriving in Vitznau after an hour on the water. Across from the boat station, your tour guide will lead you to the cogwheel railway. This scenic 35-minute journey takes you from 1,440 ft (438m) above sea level to the top of mount Rigi at an altitude of 5,900 ft (1798m). Be collected from your accommodation by your tour guide and make your way to the train station in Basel. An intercity train will take you in 50 minutes to Lucern, where you will board a local train. After 45 minutes you will arrive at Engelberg, which is a small village at the end of the valley, known for the winter tourism industry. Your tour guide will lead you to the gondola station, which is 10 minutes away from the train. To get up the hill, you will board a 6 seat gondola, which will take you through 2 sections to the middle station, Stand. You will glide above meadows, trees, and rocks in a peaceful and beautiful landscape. At Stand, you will change to the rotating gondola, which takes you to your final destination in 5 minutes. During the journey, the gondola rotates by 360 degrees to ensure a fantastic aerial view.  Once you arrive at the top, your tour guide will suggest beginning your sightseeing tour at the terraces, where there is always snow at 9980 foot above sea level. Enjoy the fantastical aerial view to the surrounding mountains and glaciers. After the terraces, you will visit the highest suspension bridge in Europe. Cross the 100-meter long bridge, which is 1640 foot high. On the other side is the entrance to the ice vace, a tunnel system in the middle of the glacier.  Return to the main building and take the opportunity to have lunch in the panoramic restaurant. Enjoy local dishes while looking at the surrounding mountains. After lunch you can choose to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere on the terraces or take a seated chair lift to the snow park, where you will have different options to enjoy the snow. Once you have seen all of the attractions, your tour guide will lead you via Engelberg back to Basel, where your tour will end.

4. From Basel: Private Pilatus Golden Tour with Lake Cruise

Start your tour with pickup at your accommodation and make your way to the train station in Basel. An intercity train will take you in 1 hour to central Lucerne, where you'll board a boat for a 1-hour cruise on Lake Lucerne. Enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains and and the waterfront of the city.  Arrive in Alpnachstad, where you'll switch to the cogwheel railway. The Pilatus railway operates between May and October and is the world's steepest cogwheel railway. The 35-minute journey takes you from 464 meters above sea level to the top of Mount Pilatus, at 2128 meters above sea level. At the top, your tour guide will show you some hidden military objects. Alternatively, you can climb up the stairs to the panoramic platform and enjoy the vast scenery. Your tour guide will take you through the gallery of dragons and tell you a myth about Mount Pilatus.  After the sightseeing tour, enjoy lunch in one of the two restaurants, where your tour guide will happily join you. Afterwards, take some free time to spend as you wish before you begin your descent. A panoramic gondola will take you down to Fräkmüntegg, where you will change to the 4-seat gondola. This section takes you above trees and meadows and down to the suburb Kriens. Head back to central Lucerne for your return trip back to Basel on an intercity train. Once back in Basel, your tour guide will accompany you to your accommodation.

5. Mount Rigi Guided Hike from Lucerne

Start the day off with a train ride from the Lucerne train station to Goldau, where you will transfer to the Mt. Rigi cog wheel train, and then to the aerial tram, to reach the starting point of your hike at the 1,661-meter high Rigi Scheidegg. The panoramic views and the symphony of cow bells in the summer months provide the perfect ambiance, and served as the inspiration from Mark Twain's 1880 book, “A Tramp Abroad." Mid way through the hike, stop for lunch at a typical Alpine restaurant, or bring your own to enjoy at a nearby meadow. After lunch, continue hiking through undulating meadows to reach the modern facilities of the newly opened Mineralbad & Spa at Rigi Kaltbad, designed by internationally renowned architect, Mario Botta. Take the cogwheel train up to the top of Mount Rigi to enjoy the spectacular panoramic views over the lakes and mountains, and then descend by foot back to the Rigi Kaltbad. End the tour with a scenic 40-minute boat cruise across Lake Lucerne, returning to the Lucerne train station by 6:47 PM.
