Private Trip to Lake Bled and Radovljica with Lunch

1. Private Trip to Lake Bled and Radovljica with Lunch

Your excursion begins with a complimentary pick-up from your hotel or alternative meeting point  when pick-up isn't possible at the hotel. During the drive in a comfortable car/minivan your guide will share information and answer to your questions regarding Slovenia. Meanwhile, you will drive about an hour through rural Slovenia towards the Julian Alps. When you arrive in Bled, you will experience a drive around the lake, and a short stroll around Lake Bled where your guide will share his/her knowledge about this beautiful place.  After the sightseeing tour of the town, you will have a chance to visit the majestic castle or enjoy a ride in a traditional wooden boat, "pletna" to the island and back, or you can simply enjoy your own time here. After a short drive to Radovljica and a sightseeing tour of the city, you will see the famous Slovenian gingerbread workshop Lectar.  'Lectarstvo' is an old and renowned traditional handicraft of Slovenia. The decorated pastry is made from honey dough and shaped either with a wooden or a tin mold, or by hand. The craft is one of the oldest practiced in cities and squares, while in the countryside lect workshops appeared in the 19th century, during its heyday. Today, honey-bread products are precious souvenirs from Slovenia. Of course, a visit to the Slovenian countryside wouldn't be complete without tasting what Slovenian cuisine has to offer. You will indulge in a typical Alpine region lunch. Later, you  will return to Ljubljana full of wonderful memories, where the tour ends at the meeting point.

2. From Ljubljana: Half-Day Private Trip to Lake Bled

Bled is often mentioned as the pearl of the Slovenian Alpine region with its emerald-green waters, picture perfect postcard church on the island, a medieval castle on the rocky cliff and some of the highest peaks of the Slovenian Alps in the background. Lake Bled is a place you should not miss. Take a short walk along the lake shore as you witness the beauty of the surrounding mountains reflecting on the lake surface. Throughout the seasons, you will enjoy the peace of the lake and fresh air. Perched atop a steep cliff more than 100 meters above the lake, Bled Castle is how most people imagine a medieval fortress to be, with towers, ramparts, moats and a terrace offering magnificent views. The castle houses a unique treasure - a reconstructed Gutenberg's wooden printing press on which the master printer will demonstrate old printing techniques using handmade paper. Take the pletna boat to the lake island from the shore. The tiny, tear-shaped island beckons from the shore and the ride with the pletna boat will be a real thrill. Upon returning from the island, you will probably be tired. Stop at the local patisserie and taste Bled’s famous cream cake – kremšnita. Since the last 60 years, this patisserie has sold as many as 12 million cream cakes.
