Portimão: Pirate Ship Cave Cruise

1. Portimão: Pirate Ship Cave Cruise

After boarding, begin by receiving a full briefing on your safety and comfort for your cruise. From there, hit the open water and navigate the coast off of Rio Arade, the village of Ferragudo, medieval castles, and the Atlantic Ocean. Cruising east, pass Carvoeiro, which contains the famous rock formation of Algar Seco. Arriving to the lighthouse of Alfanzina, transfer to a small boat to visit the inside of the local caves which run from the lighthouse to Marinha Beach. These caves include the famous cathedral cave of Benagil. Returning to the boat, take a dip to swim in the enticing crystal clear water which surrounds you. On your return journey, be on the lookout for dolphins, which are regularly spotted in this area.

What people are saying about Carvoeiro

A very nice experience. Taking a boat ride along the coast and then entering the caves in smaller boats. Although according to what the guide told me, it did not include bathing before getting back on the boat. And that comes in the explanation of the activity that I hired that was in the morning.

Top cruise from start to finish: the pirate ship, the panorama of the coast, the children raising the sail, going to the helm to steer the boat, the detour to see the dolphins, the transfer to the small motor boat , the visit of other caves next to that of Benagil and all the crew members

The crew were amazing and made this trip extra special. It was my husbands 60th and we came as a group of 10 family members. They let him steer the boat, we got to jump off the boat into the sea and explore the caves in the smaller boats. Fantastic 3 hours and highlight of our holiday.

Very comfortable trip and in the shade since it has awnings to avoid the sun. When we reach the cave area, we go to smaller boats to be able to go inside them. Before returning to port we enjoy a dip in the high seas by throwing ourselves from the bow of the ship.

I did not see any Dolpins and I did not get to walk the plank. However i had a lovely time and would highly recommend it. My family and I made gorgeous memories celebrating my fathers 75th Birthday.
