Amalfi Coast: Boat and Snorkeling Tour with a Captain

6. Amalfi Coast: Boat and Snorkeling Tour with a Captain

Board an Amalfitan Gozzo boat for a scenic ride along the Amalfi coast. Admire natural wonders, including the Natural Arch and Faraglioni Rocks. Swim and snorkel or relax on the shores of secluded beaches. Once everybody has jumped on board and had a little briefing about how you're going to spend the day, you will be ready to set off to the west towards Positano. The route will take you along Amalfi Coast’s finest beaches as well as close to natural rock arches and into sea caves, giving you the opportunity to admire the old watchtowers that dot the entire length of this coast. You will pause at beaches reachable only by sea and have time to go snorkeling or swimming in crystal-clear waters and into grottoes. Not too far from the starting point, right after leaving the center of Amalfi, you will get close to Saint Andrew's Grotto, a huge natural sea cave full of stalactites named after the patron saint of Amalfi (Andrea). Then, once passed Duoglio and Santa Croce beaches, you will stop by the "Arc of Lovers", a natural rock arch created millions of years ago by the erosion of the sea whose shape recalls two elephants in the act of kissing. Up to not too long ago young couples used to get married on the top of it. A little later you will cruise in front of the ancient fishing village of Conca dei Marini, passing near the villa of Sophia Loren and seeing the historic hotel “Il Saraceno” located on La Vite Beach. From here you will also have a stunning view of the Santa Rosa Monastery, a former convent now converted into a luxury hotel, once home of the Dominican nuns. It's right in the kitchens of this monastery that the delicious "Sfogliatella Santa Rosa" was born, a shell-shaped pastry filled with ricotta cheese-based cream and little dried fruit pieces, typical of the local culinary tradition (don't forget to taste it before leaving!). Once past the seaside of Conca dei Marini you will enter its western basin, where you will have a beautiful view of Furore and Praiano villages and the islands of Li Galli and Capri, together with the well-known Faraglioni Rocks. Further inside this basin we will find the little Runghetiello Grotto and its tiny beach, where you will anchor for a break to go swimming or snorkeling. You will reach then the famous Furore Fjord, the only natural fjord in Italy and location of the international diving competition "MarMeeting": every year in July, professional divers from around the world compete by jumping from the top of the bridge which is 28 meters high. Navigating a little farther onward to the village of Praiano you will be able to have a close look at a bigger sea cave, the Africana Grotto, where the water has a distinctive blue color thanks to the unique refraction of light. Finally you will go round Capo Sottile and continue cruising to Positano, where you will have another break for snorkeling at a beach reachable only by the sea and so not crowded at all: La Porta. The return trip to Amalfi will give you a different but equally remarkable view of both sea and land.

What people are saying about Capri

One of my favourite days. Fortunate enough the weather was amazing and cooperated to be able to see everything. The guide and captain we had (sorry I forgot your names!) were funny and friendly. Felt like we had enough time to briefly explore Capri, swim and see the iconic attractions of the island. The guides made sure everyone was able to see the attractions and get their photos. Would definitely recommend this tour to others.

Amazing experience we had sailing to Capri on this tour. Very friendly and knowledgeable. We received some beer to enjoy and a caprese sandwich which was great. I highly recommend.

Amazing guides, even more amazing views! This is a great way to see the Amalfi Coast from the water and spend some time in Capri if you are staying in Sorrento.

One of the most unforgettable amazing day trip from which I made a lot of new friends! Friendly crews and well planed schedule. Highly recommend!

The absolute best day ever!! I cannot recommend this enough. You HAVE to do it.
