From Reykjavik: Silfra Fissure Snorkeling Half-Day Trip

2. From Reykjavik: Silfra Fissure Snorkeling Half-Day Trip

Undergo a unique underwater experience by snorkeling in the Silfra fissure on a half-day tour from Reykjavik. Frequently rated as one of the world's top 10 dive sites, Silfra offers up to 100 m (300 ft) of underwater visibility. Admire views of Iceland's stunning landscape as you ride from Reykjavik to the heart of Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site. Snorkel in this location for 45 min with your guide, before returning to the warmth of the tour van and heading back to Reykjavik. The cold waters melt off a glacier 50 km (30 miles) away and make their way through lava fields to beautiful Thingvellir Lake. Although the chilly waters are too cold to support much in the way of marine life, Iceland's Silfra crack runs down between the American and European continental plates and offers amazing underwater views.

3. From Reykjavik: Volcano Site Hike with Reykjanes Tour

Set off on a day trip from Reykjavik to the currently erupting volcano on the Reykjanes Peninsula with a local guide. Next, embark on an easy to moderate 2.1-km (1.3 mi) hike to see the site of the 2021 Fagradalsfjall and 2022 Meladalur volcano eruptions. If you're lucky, you can witness an active eruption in all its glory. See flaming craters and fissures, gleaming rivers of molten rock, and a glowing field of lava. After enjoying this incredible site, head back to Reykjavik.

From Reykjavik: Silfra Snorkeling with Underwater Photos

4. From Reykjavik: Silfra Snorkeling with Underwater Photos

Enjoy a guided wetsuit snorkeling tour in the Silfra fissure, located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Thingvellir National Park. Leave Reykjavik behind and discover this hidden natural wonder, where the 100-meter underwater visibility and bright colors make the experience almost unrealistic. Immerse yourself in the pristine water of Silfra—some of the purest waters on the planet. When snorkeling in Silfra, travel between two continents, ending the tour in a lagoon often called "the real blue lagoon" because of the bright blue color of the water. Snorkeling in Silfra fissure, where you are guided into this magnificent scenery, is a total must-see for all nature and adventure-thirsty travelers. Enjoy freedom in terms of movements and free dive by holding your breath. Stay dry underneath your drysuit or, for the more adventurous, choose a wetsuit to feel the natural cool waters. The wetsuits used are six millimeter in thickness and isolate the body well from the cold water. Warm up with a cup of hot chocolate and leave feeling reinvigorated

From Reykjavik: Fagradalsfjall Volcano Helicopter Flight

5. From Reykjavik: Fagradalsfjall Volcano Helicopter Flight

In our Fagradalsfjall helicopter tour, you’ll meet your pilot and receive a briefing on this spectacular journey when you arrive at Reykjavik’s domestic airport, which is at a convenient place. You’ll next walk onto the tarmac to your modern, sleek helicopter, which will be waiting for you to take off. Only five or six seats per craft will be available, ensuring a spectacular perspective and an intimate interaction with the volcano. Please remember that eruptions are a natural occurrence that may or may not be active during your visit. This eruption has occurred on the 19th of March, 2021. Relatively, this eruption is small-sized and has taken place on Reykjanes Peninsula. Its geographical location can be traced in Geldingadalir Valley some 20 miles away from Reykjavik. Before this eruption, the Reykjanes peninsula witnessed such eruptions in the 14th century AD. More Interestingly, some 50000 earthquake jolts have taken place following this eruption. It is a catastrophic scenario in the area. The experts of seismology maintain that this volcanic eruption is no less than a surprise. The reason is that meanwhile, the volcano eruption takes place, there was no seismic activity. Without such seismic activity, the eruption seems unlikely. However, the volcano erupted at this site, proving it to be a surprise for the seismic studies. A major benefit of a flying tour like this one is that you will be able to obtain the best view, away from the masses who have come here on foot, giving you a much more intimate experience while enjoying the best view. Remember our Heli tour will not provide you with landing at the site just to ensure the safety of our passengers. You’ll get some beautiful views of the environment surrounding Iceland’s capital as you loop around to the Reykjanes Peninsula, including the verdant Mount Esja and dazzling Faxafloi Bay. The total duration of the tour is approx. 45-60 minutes. Showing you the simmering crater, flowing lava stream, and the extensive lava field. We feel our passengers will get the best experience inside our helicopter. Be sure that our company is supposed to show you the lava scenes during this Icelandic helicopter tour. If the natural occurrence of lava does not take place during our flight, we are not responsible to carry on another flight or assume a new schedule. All of our flights are weather-dependent, and we must follow the Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management’s rules and regulations to make our Icelandic helicopter tour for volcanoes secure

What people are saying about Capital Region of Iceland

Amazing - be prepared to be cold in winter when I got out the water it was -22oC - the water is acceptable with correct under garments - all being said don’t miss out - the experience is amazing and pretty much once in a lifetime. The guides are fantastic and walk through everything - they are in water with you so perfectly safe. If you don’t like the cold think carefully - on my day four dropped out even before hitting the water due to cold - it’s not cheep so think carefully - i would say do it and deal with the cold before and after - it’s only a few hours and memory’s are worth a lifetime.

Tour guide was great, very friendly and did his bat to get us to see the lights. We did see them, just not in their best conditions. Would recommend to someone who wanted to experience this in the Jeep, although in hindsight, a coach would’ve been cheaper.

- we done a lot in one day and didn’t feel stretched for time. We visited 2 waterfalls, the black sand beach and then a 3 hour glacier hike. All the guides were very passionate and informative. Would recommend!

A bucket list experience conditions were ideal instructors were great very helpful, I'm over 50 and a decent swimmer and I manage the swim relatively easily the water is unbelievably clear....

Excellent trip with a superb guide. If you do anything here, this trip was amazing
