Full description
As part of a small guided group you will experience a slice of life for the average South African. You will ride the same trains locals use to commute to work every day and take a guided walk through the community they live in. In a hands-on way you will be volunteering at a community food garden and soup kitchen that feeds the needy. Your tour will start at Cape Town Station, the main station, serving the city center and surroundings. From here we will journey by train to Langa, the oldest township in Cape Town. Many locals commute daily by train from the townships. However, it is not necessarily a mode of transport you would use as a tourist as the main Cape Town tourist area is predominantly served by taxis and buses. Once in Langa, we will take a guided walk through the streets of the community, taking in all the sights and sounds of this bustling environment. From there we go to the Sinebhongo community garden where guests are able to contribute to the initiative with their time and energy in the garden and kitchen. Our group has a chance to interact with the women behind this project as they pick the vegetables and prepare the food. We journey on to the hostels of the Joe Slovo, informal settlement, and get a chance to speak to the locals. Then, enjoy a light lunch.

leider keine Oeko-Tour
