Mauritz, our driver/guide for the day picked us upon time and was very friendly and very knowledgeable. Not only about the wine areas but also about lots of the South African social and political history. He listened to our wine likes and dislikes (my wife only drinks white wine while I prefer red) and chose the wineries to visit with this in mind. He gave us good information on the areas we visited and also arranged the tastings so that both Ann and myself were fully satisfied with the types of wine available. The timings of the visits, tastings and lunch stop was well judged and made the day very relaxing. I would strongly recommend Mauritz as an English or German speaking guide for a day in the Winelands.
Our guide Cliff was great! He was friendly, easy going and extremely knowledgeable, informing us about the history of South Africa and the local flora and fauna during our hike. My friend is more of a hiker than me and I was worried I wouldn’t be able to do it, but Cliff was encouraging and made me feel confident the whole way. He was helpful in taking pictures for us, and even came prepared with snacks and water. It was an incredible experience and one I’d absolutely recommend. I would say be prepared for some climbing, especially towards the top, so comfortable shoes that grip well would be ideal.
What a tour! One of the highlights of our trip to Cape Town. The tour was great, the wine, the wineries but ultimately it was our tour guide that made it the magical experience that it was. We had Buks (that is his nickname) and he was informative, made us feel very comfortable and we felt so lucky that we got him. Highly recommend!
Lions Head hike with Lynette. She was really great and told us lots of interesting facts. I would totally recommend this trip.
Guide was very good, nice small group and we could even choose what wine farms we wanted to visit.
