Upon arrival, enjoy fantastic views of the Wadi El Rayan waterfalls in the heart of the desert. Admire the powerful cascades of water which provide a stark contrast to the surrounding arid landscape. If you are lucky, catch glimpses of desert wildlife in the area such as the slender-horned gazelle. Next, make a stop for photos of the beautiful Mudawara Mountains. Then, get ready to enjoy the desert adventure. Board the 4X4 car for some dune bashing and experience the excitement as the car glides through yellow, soft sand. After riding over the dunes, stop to enjoy some sandboarding. Strap yourself to the sandboard and glide down the sparkling, yellow sand at a fast pace. Next, mount a camel and feel like a Bedouin explorer as you ride through the beautiful desert terrain. After the camel ride, stop at a Bedouin desert camp and enjoy an elaborate and delicious BBQ lunch. Cairo: Historical Walking Tour with Local & Dinner

4. Cairo: Historical Walking Tour with Local & Dinner

Get to know the real Cairo on this downtown Cairo walking tour. For the next 4 hours, you’ll experience Cairo the way locals do, and see the city from their perspective. Start your Cairo tour at New Opera Square in Zamalek, winding your way through Cairo’s ancient and recent history, emerging, fittingly, at Old Opera Square near Attaba.  From the city’s most beautiful bridge spanning the Nile, you’ll head towards Liberation Square, which hosted many events during the 2011 Egyptian Revolution, and is a significant landmark in the city’s modern history. In addition to the beautiful 19th and 20th Century architecture featured in downtown Cairo, your walking tour will allow you to check out modern artwork in the form of graffiti. Typically, this graffiti expresses locals’ views towards the Revolution and various political parties. In this area, every corner has its own story to tell, with most intersections featuring a statue of an important historical figure. Not to worry - your local guide will help fill in any gaps to give you better context for what you’re seeing.  To cap off your local Cairo walking tour, indulge in a local dish: Koshary, in an authentic local restaurant. Koshary is a mix of rice, pasta, lentils, fried onions, and chili sauce, and is an absolute favorite. You’ll also have the chance to try Egyptian falafel and ice cream before the night is through, giving you a full taste of local life here, all in just 4 short hours!

What people are saying about Cairo

This was a fantastic trip! We started by getting picked up at our hotel in Cairo. Comfy van ride to Al Fayoum, picked up a police protection detail and switched to a sweet SUV. Went to the only waterfall in Egypt, had Turkish coffee, camel riding for the whole family, all 5 of us, both man made lakes, dune bashing, sand boarding, desert dining, and papyrus shop. Everything was top of the line. Our guide was Ahmed. He was the most wonderful man I have ever met. He knew EVERYTHING about Egyptian history. Any questions I had, he had the best answers. He was also very kind and also allowed me to ask cultural questions too. Our driver’s were very talented, especially our dune basher. Dude drives like a champ and needs to run Baja. This was without a doubt the best tour and guide combo my whole 11 day trip. I only wish I booked them for my whole stay. Tour with these guys. They are the best!

Really great trip. Mostafa, our guide, was very fun, accommodating and helpful. Getting out of Cairo and seeing the outskirts of town/real Egypt was great! The cars were comfy, with AC. They offered water and we stopped for coffee and tea. My favorite part was driving on the dunes and our driver who loved to clap and get us to jam to the music. Really great experience!

Everything TOP works. The guide. Punctual pickup, delicious food. Great adventure. Everything was as described in the description.

Really enjoyed my trip with Moustafa!! We had an amazing time and he looked after us well! Definitely worth it!

Beautiful day at the edge of the Red Sea, our guide Fares was at the top.
