From Albany: Mount Barker Wine Tasting Day Tour

1. From Albany: Mount Barker Wine Tasting Day Tour

Meander through backroads to taste outstanding wines from wineries of the Mt Barker sub-region of the Great Southern appellation; known for its Rieslings. This region has a characteristically cool climate with slow ripening times which allows for the development of rich flavors and quality grape juice. Wine tasting begins at Gilbert Wines, home to the ‘lads’ and where a morning coffee might be preferred. At Plantagenet wines, you are taken to the tasting bench to choose your wine and make your purchase to accompany a scrumptious shared platter lunch of local produce. Then it's on to Galafrey Wines, another family-owned winery and home to prominent female wine-maker Kim Tyrer. From there head to West Cape Howe where you can sample wine from their extensive range, olive oil, or their own brand of coffee. Our Busy Blue Bus Tour guide will take care of the skipper duties, while you relax and enjoy the scenery and the sensational flavors of the region.

What people are saying about Bunbury

My husband and I had the best day with our guide Sue and fellow travellers. Sue took us to four rustic, family owned wineries and we were not disappointed by any of them! Gilbert’s winery was the start of our tour after which the rest had a tough act to follow! Loved the country style venue, the beautiful views across the hill to the mountains. If you love dogs there are two pat loving kelpies. What I also enjoyed was being able to sit at a long table and be served our wines. The portions were generous and the story behind the wines and winery was very interesting. I love hearing stories of a family who put in the hard work and now have an amazing venue and some of the best wines I have tasted! Lunch at Plantagenet winery was simply delicious along with their wines. I am gluten intolerant so appreciated the effort that was made to accomodate my needs. It was lovely to meet the owner of Galfrey winery and hear here her success story. West Cape Howel’s staff was soooo accomodating!!
