London: Grim Reaper Walking Tour

1. London: Grim Reaper Walking Tour

This 2-hour walking tour of London’s shadowy streets takes you back in time, starting with the 1400s, long before an official police force patrolled the dark alleys in the city’s infamous East End. London was a city where tyrants ruled, and the weak were swallowed by death’s gaping maw. The walk through the city’s gloom takes you through the sites of gruesome executions and crushing poverty, of overcrowding, disease, and depraved criminality. Retrace the bloody trail of the notorious Jack the Ripper's murders, get a taste for a new breed of soul harvester born of the Victorian age, and see the plague pits, the Bloody Tower, and Traitor’s Gate. You will go to several notoriously haunted areas of the East End and discover how traitors and criminals were punished, why the Ripper was never caught, and what life was really like for people living in the East End. In a city so full of light and beauty, this walk will show you the darkness waiting around every corner.

Take a walk through the sprawling markets of Petticoat Lane and Commercial Road, and on to the darkened corners of Mitre Square and Bucks Row! • Royal London: Explore the area around Buckingham Palace and see the Changing of the Guard. See Westminster Bridge, Big Ben, the London Eye, and South Bank. • Beatles London: Re-enact the Beatles’ Abbey Road crossing and explore Carnaby Street, the London hub of the swinging 60s. What people are saying about Brick Lane

I was a tourist in my home town! And so happy that I was. What a great way to see the hidden corners of Whitechapel. There was a large enough group, people from all over the place. I was on my own, as well as another lady and a man from Germany. We were lucky with a lovely sunny evening in May. I have no morbid fascination with murder cases, I simply looked at what tours were on offer and thought this would be interesting- and I wasn't disappointed! It's a fascinating case, and SO much more was brought to this by the tour guide than I had ever seen in documentaries about it. AT FIRST. I thought that the guide should have a London accent, as in the same if I went to Dublin, it would be nice if the guide had a local accent- this girl was from Italy- but she really did herself proud, full of energy and so friendly and helpful. It was as good as it possibly could be and I HEARTILY recommend this to anyone visiting London. You really are left far more enlightened.

We met Nic in the park and before we’d even officially started he told us a bit about the Whitechapel. Once we began his almost encyclopaedic knowledge took over. Giving out “suspect” cards to make us more engaged with his words was a fun and welcomed addition. What we really enjoyed was that as we got going he answered questions and discussed and challenged our groups’ theories. It was two hours of theatre an although light when we went Nic allowed us to feel the 1888 mood and location. The choice for use was darker but colder tour or warmer but lighter tour. We enjoyed our May tour a lot. Also some great places to eat in Whitechapel after too. Thanks Nic.

Jack and Hannah were fantastic, very knowledgeable. Would highly recommend if the macabre is what you are looking for.
