1. From Tromsø: Husky Visit with Dog Sledding in Breivikeidet
Drive to a scenic seaside valley in Breivikeidet to learn how to drive a sled. Put on your hat and boots, then meet the huskies. Sit in the passenger seat to take photos, then drive the sled. Come back to camp and spend time with the huskies. Drink warm tea and coffee with the guide at the end. Come to the meeting point at the Scandic Ishavshotel, then depart on a 50-minute transfer to the camp in Breivikeidet. Then, arrive at a picturesque valley near the sea to be greeted by the friendly staff. Put on your polar-insulated boots, hats, and mittens before the dogsledding begins. As this is a self-drive dog sledding tour, we will have a quick safety briefing and teach you how to drive the dog sled. Next, you will meet the huskies and start sledding. You will share the sled with a fellow guest; one of you as a passenger and another as the musher (driver), and you switch places halfway through the tour. On this shorter dog sledding tour, you will get the chance to drive your dog sled at a slow and comfortable pace for 10-15 minutes depending on the conditions, until our guide stops the tour to take photos of you being a dog musher before you switch places with your passenger. Once done with photos, you will take the return trip back to camp. Next, spend a bit of time with the huskies at the camp. Afterward, drink some hot coffee or tea in the panorama restaurant, eat cake, and learn more about the dogs from your guide. Finally, transfer back to the meeting point to finish your sledding experience.
