Wine Tasting & Winery Tours

Your tour will begin as you are picked up from your accommodation in Brasov early in the morning. From there you will be driven 20 kilometers to the city of Rasnov. Once there you will visit the first distillery, where the owner will show you the basics of palinka distilling. See the multitude of flavors produced there, and if you think you can handle it, go ahead and taste the spirits (which taste better on a cold rainy day). Your next visit will be to the city of Sfantu Gheorghe, where you will visit the second distillery. This distillery produces world-famous drinks which have been awarded with various distinctions in world contests. There, you will have the chance to taste stunning and unique flavors of palinka, and be careful, some are quite strong! As the last stop of your tour, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Prejmer citadel, one of the strongest fortifications in Transylvania. Built by Teutonic Knights in the 13th century, it is considered the largest fortified church in southeastern Europe. After admiring this impressive sight, head back to Brasov.

Visit the Rhein winery in Azuga, Prahova Valley which is the world's 4th largest producer of prosseco with more than 420,000 bottles made every year. The winery is famous for its high-quality wines which supplied the Romanian Royal family with champagne and prosecco for almost 100 years. Take a tour inside the winery's cellar to see how the final product is processed, all handmade exactly as it was 150 years ago. Enjoy a wine tasting with 3 different wines paired with Romanian cheese and dry fruits all served in a beautiful ambiance. After the tasting, head to Busteni to visit the imposing Cantacuzino Castle and admire the view that opens in front of you from the terrace. See the world's tallest cross on top of the Craiman Mountain which was build in 1922 and dedicated to the heroes of WW1. End the day in Brasov's old town and learn about the city's history, ghost, and vampire stories. Enjoy lunch in one of the most spectacular restaurants in Romania with traditional cuisine. 

After getting picked up from your hotel in Brasov, head to the Rhein Wine Cellars, admiring beautiful scenery of the Carpathian Mountains along the way. Visit the cellars where the sparkling wine is produced and see the industrial machinery used for its bottling. At the end of the visit, enjoy a sample of 3 different types of sparkling wines. Next, head to the Peles Castle, the summer residence of the Romanian royal family. Stroll through the castle's 160 rooms and admire its 19th-century architecture, built in the German Renaissance style. You will also get the chance to see woodwork by Bernhard Ludwig. Stop for lunch at a restaurant in Sinaia, before heading to your final stop, the Sinaia Orthodox Monastery, where 8 monks live today. Here, admire the murals of the church walls, painted in 1695, before beginning the journey back to Brasov.
