Bucharest: 12-Hour Tour of Brasov and Dracula's Castle

1. Bucharest: 12-Hour Tour of Brasov and Dracula's Castle

Experience the Transylvanian life of today and of yore, in some of Europe's most well-preserved Medieval towns, and stunning castles, that famously served as the haunting backdrop to Bram Stoker's legendary novel, Dracula. The medieval town of Brasov displays rough, cobblestone streets dominated by pastel-colored houses and features Old Saxon architecture. The Carpathian Mountains and citadels create the skyline playing host to Bran, the gothic fairy-tale castle associated with Prince Vlad Tepes. The 15th-century Walachian Prince provided the inspiration for Bram Stoker's famous antagonist, and though the connection is tenuous, the deep bond of the locals with its legend is not. Then see the Black Church, the Citadel of Brasov, Ecaterina's Gate, the White and Black Towers, the Bastions of many traditional craftsmen, and Rasnov Fortress. Enjoy an unmissable taste of Old Romania!

Marian took us on an invigorating hike with gorgeous views that photos do not do justice! It was just us two, and we are avid hikers, so he was able to take us on a longer hike as per our request. It was physically demanding but not too difficult or dangerous, and every few minutes the views just got more breath-taking. After 3 hours in the mountains, we descended into a quaint village in the valley, passing grazing cattle & sheep and smelling bonfires in the distance. We felt so refreshed and alive. We ate lunch at a guest house, and he was able to arrange our family-style lunch to be all vegetarian, and it was very hearty and filling! To finish, we had a long but easy walk back along country roads, and Marian told us about how his tours are designed to be eco-friendly and give back to the local villages, which we definitely appreciate. Afterwards, we were pretty tired but so grateful we had booked this tour. It exceeded our expectations and was the best day of our trip by far.

Get to know Romania and its culture very well in one day

We booked this tour to get to Bran at Dracula's Castle. Our guide (Diana) and your driver (Christian) picked us up punctually at the hotel in Bucharest. The trip was very pleasant and entertaining. "Stops" at any time to take photos, buy drinks etc. were no problem. A tour change (without surcharge) was also possible when we saw the Rasnov castle from a distance and wanted to go there. Brasov is a dream and our guide showed us the best & most beautiful corners. Transylvania is certainly far too short for a day, but to get a first glimpse we can only recommend this tour and this company.

Comprehensive introduction to Transylvania

Diana and Christian were a splendid duo - guide and driver. They were both very personable and spoke excellent English. They knew so much about the area and we had a great 2 days. It was early December and so cold, but that added to our experience. Snagov Monastery, Peles and Bran Castles, Rasnov fortress and Brasnov are all worth seeing. So much better to have personal guides rather than being on a group tour. We could not have seen as much if we had done it on our own using public transport.

Exceptional tour - would recommend to anyone

The guide and car driver were very friendly and informative. They would do anything for us - stopped along the way to take photos when requested and were happy to do anything we requested. Were always waiting for us on time and assisted us with all requests. Extremely friendly and helpful. The tour is a very good short insight into Romania- would one day like to return for a longer tour.

An enjoyable fascinating tour.

Our guide was knowledgeable, congenial and very organized. The hotels were good especially the second one. Food was interesting and Romanian. The tour involved a lot of driving but we saw a lot of the countryside and some great castles and monasteries. Valentin, our guide, was exceptional. Thanks you for a great introduction to your country.
