Full description

Take a half-day tour to the charming village of St. Emilion, and sample a selection of wines. The history of the village goes back to medieval times, and the whole jurisdiction is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its natural landscape. Upon arrival in the village, embark on a guided walking tour. Explore the charming lanes, Romanesque churches, and ruins that stretch along the steep and narrow laneways. It was the Romans that introduced wine making to the village as far back as the 2nd century. Reminders of the Roman techniques of wine planting can be seen in some of the estates, such as Chateau Bellevue, owned by the world-famous Angelus winery. The village was named after the monk Émilian, a traveling confessor, who settled in a hermitage carved into the rock in the 8th-Century. Follow your guide for a walking tour of the village to discover all the main attractions.  Then, enjoy a visit and wine tasting session in a Classified Growth Chateau of the Saint Emilion wine region. During the visit, you will learn all there is to know about the estate as well as the techniques used to produce this world-famous wine. From here return to Bordeaux.

Our guide was excellent. Really friendly and interested in the group. I was in the back of the van but could hear him chatting to the couple in the front and was genuinely interested in the conversation. We were feeling very bad after as we had no cash for a tip. At the chateau it was quite quick walking round the grounds and into the barrel room. They were busy at work so this might be why it was so quick. It would have been great to see in more of the buildings there. The tasting was good and the shop lovely, although doing the tasting at the chateau would have been even better. The village of st emilion was beautiful. Lovely walking around and not too long on the guided one but enough to point out the key features and to give us time to look around. We had a little walk then had some lunch and drinks and it was enough time. The village was the highlight for most of our group on our holiday. Also big shout out to our guide who took some fantastic pictures.

Our guide, Luigi, was superb. We were a group of 6 women and he handled us really well. So knowledgeable on wine and the industry. Lots of information on the way which meant we got more from our trip. The visit was the right amount of time and we felt we had seen a lot. Absolutely loved the scent game on the way back. Would definitely recommend!

Our guide Julie was informative, chatty and very personable. Her knowledge of the vineyards and the area was exceptional. She made it an inclusive experience for all on the minibus by engaging us in conversation. I thought she was also a good driver and I felt quite safe. The visit to St Emillion has been on ‘our list’ for sometime and did not disappoint us in the least. The tour of the wineries and the wine tasting was quite exceptional to see the new and old ways of working. The vineyards expert who showed us round (Audrey) spoke excellent English and obviously knew her stuff. A great afternoon and a beautiful location.
