Full description
Join this 8-hour adventure and hike along Blarney Canyon with your experienced guide. Learn how to rappel down into the canyon and explore the beautiful red rocks.  Meet your guide in the morning, fill up your water bottles, and gear up with a helmet and harness. Next, the tour will make the 2-hour drive to Blarney Canyon. Hear stories about the amazing landscapes as you ride through Comb Ridge, Salvation Knoll, Bears Ears National Monument, and more. Stop along the way at the Hog Springs picnic area and enjoy a coffee stop before arriving at the trailhead by 10 am. The hike starts out with a scramble up the sandstone ledges, where you'll ascend nearly 500 feet. Take in the beautiful views of the Henry Mountains as you make the climb. Hike along the rim of Blarney canyon, which offers epic views. After about a 2-mile hike you'll get to your first rappel at the top of the canyon. Rappel about 50 feet down into the canyon and let your guides take great care of you. Your guides will show you everything you need to know to safely rappel down into the canyon, even if you're a first-timer. After everyone in the group rappels, you'll have lunch in the canyon before dropping into the narrow sections of the slot. Work as a team to continue to climb down through the beautiful red rock. You’ll remember what climbing around the playground was like as a kid. Continue hiking through the narrows as the sun passes over the canyon and watch the light reflect off the canyon walls. Finally, you'll reach the 3rd rappel. This 3rd and final rappel is 60 feet long with a tricky start but drops you into a beautiful deep cavern where the sun never hits. Explore the deepest section of the narrows and be sure you have your camera with you. After a couple more downclimbs, the canyon starts to widen up again for a short hike back to the van. Depending on the size of the group, the canyon rappels and hikes take about 5 hours,  and you'll arrive back in Bluff between 4 and 5 pm.
