1. Belize City: Half-Day Altun Ha Temple & Belize City Tour

On your way to Altun Ha, enjoy a panoramic city tour and see all the points of interest, such as the old colonial-style buildings that still stand in Belize City. See the light house, the Belize sign, the wealthy portions of the city called the Kings Park zone, the school district, the hospital, the central Bank of Belize, and the prime minister’s home. Drive north for about one hour to the Mayan temples. On your way, see the different ecosystems of flora and fauna. Altun Ha was an important Mayan religious and trading center dating back to 200 BC. The site was first excavated in 1963 and researchers believe that it was once home to 10,000 people.  At the site, enjoy a guided tour of the entire ancient city, learn about its history and construction style of the buildings. Travel back in time and try to imagine how the Mayan people lived.

What people are saying about Belize District

Met Fredd at the cruise ship tender dock and was escorted to his air conditioned van. Saw city sights on our way to Altun Ha. Fredd gave us his own insights into Mayan culture and history while explaining the ruins at Altun Ha. We have enjoyed touring many Mayan ruins previously but this tour and guide were the best!

Dennis was professional; on time, friendly and knowledgeable. Short drive, lots of history at the ruins and I enjoyed learning about the medicinal trees and plants too. 12/17- no problems with bugs, you can unmask once you pass the paid entry.

My guide was right on time, very friendly & very knowledgeable. He was a safe driver as well. I am very grateful that he took me even though is was Good Friday & everything else in the city was closed.

A really good trip - driver was on time and keen to tell me about the site etc. It is a nice half day tour and I would recommend it.

The temple is very impressive and worth visiting. Our guide, Dennis, shared many insights and made this trip very enjoyable.
