Full description
Your tour starts from your accommodation, where your guide will pick you up. Head towards Pomoravlje District, known as the center of the last Serbian Medieval Kingdom, where monasteries still have enormous cultural and historical legacy and wealth. Your first stop is Ravanica monastery. It was the endowment of Prince Lazar built during the period between 1375 and 1377, with its frescoes painted in the years preceding the Battle of Kosovo. Due to its architectural and artistic features, the Ravanica church can be called the birthplace of the new artistic movement called the Morava school. Continue your ride to Manasija monastery.  Manasija monastery is one of the last monuments to Serbian medieval culture, raised by Despot Stefan Lazarević, son of Prince Lazar. The construction of the church, an extravagant fortification and large refectory lasted from 1406 to 1418. The Church of the Holy Trinity, which is part of the monastery, is considered a prime example of Morava architecture. Also marvel at the frescoes in Manasija, together with those in Kalenić, which are the most beautiful of the Morava properties and are considered among the best in old Serbian art in general.  After this extraordinary experience, you will visit the Resava cave, one of the oldest in Serbia. The interior of the cave consists of numerous and varied halls, channels, galleries, columns, stalactites, stalagmites, draperies and flowstone waterfalls. Further on, you will enjoy a traditional Serbian lunch in a unique atmosphere, in a restaurant directly below the waterfall. After an unforgettable day, you will head back to Belgrade.

My girlfriends and I had the perfect trip with the guide Stefan. The most engaging guide I have ever experienced! We had booked a private trip so we were just us four girls in the car. Super cool! The monasteries were very beautiful and definitely worth a visit. The same goes for the waterfall and the good lunch restaurant. For me, however, the biggest experience was the cave which was really overwhelmingly beautiful. I would highly recommend this tour - especially if you can get Stefan as a guide.

My tour was changed to a private tour as I was the only one who booked the tour for the day. My guide Jelica and driver Milos were very professional and made it feel like a real experience. The time spent at each place was more than enough. Really a recommend tour to do when visiting Belgrade.

Varied and interesting

Very good communication before the pick-up. Collected on time in a clean, well maintained vehicle. The guide was very professional - he spoke English very well indeed. He was informative, but in a relaxed and conversational - as opposed to lecture-like - manner. The tour went through lots of countryside that one otherwise could not have got to. It also went through a number of villages/small towns, giving one some insight in to local living conditions - which in many places did not look luxurious. The monasteries were really impressive - especially the extensive and perfectly intact medieval fortress around Manasija monastery - one of the best building complexes that I have seen. The cave system was really good - reasonably extensive, on two layers. We and the guide were the only people in the caves - which, by the way, were well presented. We stopped for a meal in a nice "locals" restaurant en route back to Belgrade - excellent food (and service) at very good prices.
