From Amsterdam: UNESCO World Heritage VIP Tour

1. From Amsterdam: UNESCO World Heritage VIP Tour

Leave the busy city center of Amsterdam and explore the UNESCO-listed sights of the city on a fun and friendly VIP full-day tour.   Start the day by visiting the world-famous Beemster Polder and the Defense Line of Amsterdam. Discover how the Dutch were masters over the water as early as the 16th century by reclaiming land and using water in battles against enemy attacks.   Next, visit the world-famous Afsluitsdijk (Enclosing Dyke). Wander around on this amazing dyke while you enjoy a wonderful view of Ijssel lake. Cross the dyke to the next UNESCO site on the list: Wadden Sea. Visit a small museum and enjoy a cup of Dutch hot chocolate as you learn about the building and opening of the dyke.   Then, head to picturesque Woudsend, a small and charming village in Friesland for a tour guided by a local. Visit an antiquity room dating back to the early 1700s, giving you a sneak peek inside a hidden church and a traditional working windmill. Enjoy a delicious Dutch farmer’s restaurant inside a special restaurant.   Next, visit the impressive Ir. D.F. Wouda Steam Pumping Station, where you’ll enjoy the grand tour by one of the operators. The last stop of the day will be the “island” of Shockland, where you’ll stand on former seabed and learn about this unique area.   By the end of the day you’ll be back in Amsterdam after a full day exploring this great little country.

Amsterdam: Countryside Tour and Canal Cruise or 5D Flight

2. Amsterdam: Countryside Tour and Canal Cruise or 5D Flight

Depart Amsterdam and travel by air-conditioned coach to the open-air museum of Zaanse Schans. Marvel at the historic windmills and other typical architecture, and watch live demonstrations of traditional craftsmen at work to see how authentic clogs are made. Get some free time to explore on your own before traveling through the distinctive polders (land reclaimed from water) of Beemster. Continue to Edam to see the tranquil canals, lined with beautiful 17th-century buildings, including Carillon Tower and the Town Hall. Learn how Edam cheese is made and taste some at a nearby farm. End with a visit to the fishing village of Volendam, where you can buy souvenirs or put on a traditional Dutch costume for a photo keepsake. Walk through the oldest parts of the village to discover sights such as the wooden Stolphoevekerk before driving back to Amsterdam.  Finally, finish your day with the choice of two attractions: The ultimate 5D VR flight experience over the Dutch countryside or a relaxing canal cruise to admire Amsterdam's most famous attractions. The cruise passes all of Amsterdam's most famous attractions and you’ll encounter canal houses from the Golden Age, the Westerkerk, and the Anne Frank House. The unique 5D flight experience doesn’t just show you the Netherlands, it lets you live it. Experience breathtaking films providing you with a spectacular perspective from the air and new insights into how the Netherlands was created. Thanks to the astonishing special effects projected on a huge domed screen, you’ll feel like you’re soaring over the must-see sites of the Netherlands.

Amsterdam: Keukenhof & Countryside Small Group Tour

3. Amsterdam: Keukenhof & Countryside Small Group Tour

Meet your guide and driver in central Amsterdam. A comfortable, air-conditioned luxurious minivan will take you to today’s destination Keukenhof. After a short ride from Amsterdam to the bulb flower area around Lisse, start your tour by making a scenic ride in this area. Depending upon the season, you will see a landscape with colorful bulb flower carpets in almost any color you can imagine. Try to find a spot where you can stop to make some pictures. Then, continue to the true highlight of this tour, the park Keukenhof. Once a mere kitchen garden filled with vegetables and herbs, the Keukenhof now has the distinction of being the world’s largest flower garden, hosting some 1,000,000 visitors per year. Wander through the 15 kilometers of footpaths and 32 hectares of gardens, where millions of bulbs are planted each year. Tulips, hyacinths, daffodils and other spring bulbs of a variety of vibrant colors carpet the grounds. After having spent about 3.5-hours in the gardens, continue to the windmill village of Zaanse Schans. This outdoor conservation area is situated on the banks of the Zaan River and is home to traditional 18th and 19th century architecture, including several functioning windmills. Watch live demonstrations of craftsmen at work, including a clog maker crafting the famous wooden shoes of the Netherlands. There will be some free time to explore the village on your own before traveling through the distinctive polders (land reclaimed from the water) of the Beemster area. Next is the opportunity to see how the world-famous Dutch cheese is made and, of course, to taste it at a cheese farm. Finally, you will stop in the beautiful seaside village of Volendam. This typical fishing village with its bustling harbor has been a major tourist attraction as early as 1875. People come from all over to see the small buildings and houses and take in the locals in their traditional Dutch clothing. This is a great place to pick up souvenirs for those at home or a memento for yourself and to have photos taken in traditional Dutch costume. Finally, you will return to the city and can look back on a day full of great and typical Dutch highlights.

What people are saying about Beemster

The guide was very good, he spoke for us in English. We would have liked French, of course, but we appreciated the effort. There were only 6 of us, which was a very good thing. What I would criticize is maybe the really very touristy places, but at the same time that's what was pretty much advertised.

Amazing trip! We had the best guide Bram, who was very informative and talkative. Got so much interesting information, totally recommend you this experience.
