Your first stop will be in the city of Vic, which has one of the most suggestive medieval sights of Catalonia. Your guide will show your small group the most important corners of the medieval city such as the cathedral and Roman temple, sharing with you their secrets and history. On your way to Besalú, your small group will drive through the volcanic area of La Garrotxa before arriving at Santa Pau, one of the most charming towns of Catalonia, where you will take a walk through its beautiful medieval streets and its main square. You will also stop at the foot of Castellfollit de la Roca, a spectacular medieval town that hangs from the cliff edge.  To finish this journey back in time, your expert guide will take you to Besalú. Here, you'll find one of the best-conserved medieval buildings of Catalonia. Your guide will explain to you the importance of the Jewish community that lived in the city. We went on this tour in November, which was still pretty warm, but the locations we visited were very calm, no tourists at all. This and stories told by our guide Ruben made an excellent, stress-free, really relaxing day for us, having plenty time to wander and wonder around with no rush, and have a nice lunch by the river, with the view of Besalu bridge.

For at least 10 years, I had saved a magazine article about the medieval city of Besalu, about an hour outside of Barcelona. I just completed a long-awaited trip to Spain and Besalu was high on my list of destinations. I so enjoyed the drive out of the city and into the Spanish countryside. Besalu is very charming and well preserved, it was such a treat to see! The tour operator was especially helpful, can’t say enough about the customer service, and this was the first time I’d booked with GetYourGuide. Next trip, I’ll book all my tours and tickets through them.

It was good to get out of the city and see some beautiful villages, but I would not say it was worth £79 each. We were in a big car which was fine, but some may struggle with this. Long periods of silence driving, more information would have been appreciated. Also no choice of where we could have lunch (at our own expense). Not much free time.
