Full description
If you like typical Catalan food or want to try it for the first time, and also want to visit some of the top markets in Barcelona, this 4-hour foodie tour is the perfect choice. Barcelona boasts some of the greatest food markets in the world, and this tour features two of the most important places where you can find authentic and healthy fresh food- La Boqueria and Santa Caterina markets. In addition, you’ll experience the joy of eating at three nearby tapas restaurants right in the heart of the city. First, your expert guide will take you on a visit to La Boqueria, the finest market in Barcelona for fresh products such as meats, fish and vegetables. Its location on famous La Rambla is one of the most popular with locals and one of the most attractive pedestrian areas in Europe. Next, you’ll move on to the first tapas stop at a place renowned by locals for its pintxos, which are small snacks traditionally eaten in the northern regions of Spain. Your second stop is at a place where locals usually meet and eat. Try typical tapas from Mediterranean cuisine that combine succulent fish, meats and vegetables. You guide will also take you to visit Santa Caterina market, particularly interesting because of its architecture, including its wavy and colorful roof. It is also interesting because of its history, as it was built on the ruins of a ancient convent. Tell your guide what you like to eat, and you’ll be shown some of the most popular local restaurants, offering up the most delicious foods that are beautifully presented. Your last stop is at a restaurant that offers well-prepared and tasty meat dishes and drinks from the Spanish and Catalan cultures.

A great introduction to tapas and pi.nchos

Olga was very knowledgeable of the history of the area we walked through. She explained the different types of ham in the Boqueria and the samples were good. I think this tour would be best earlier in the morning before so many crowds especially the Boqueria. We enjoyed our tapas stop near the Santa Caterina market, the brief tour of the market itself. My favourite stop was the Basque restaurant and the pinchos. Olga was very understanding when my two companions had to leave us due to mobility-related health issues and continued on with me explaining historical features along the way. She was helpful in assisting me in locating a bookstore. Thank you, Olga!

only part of the proposed culinary activities took place

The beginning was a bit bumpy. The booked guide didn't know about the tour. After consultation, it worked out quite well. Unfortunately, La Boqueria was so crowded that we skipped the visit and went straight to the Santa Caterina market. The guide has a multifaceted knowledge, which he also liked to share. In the market we could choose a fruit juice. Then we visited different stands and found out about the food on offer. At lunchtime we had lunch in the tapas bar where we wanted. The 4 hours passed very entertaining. However, I would like to note that for the 240 € that we have for 2 people. other than lunch, have not visited any other restaurants or tapas bars described in the tour description. Unfortunately we could not try pintxos or other "delicious dishes" in "some of the most popular restaurants in the area". We had imagined it differently ..

We would recommend this tour to adults and families.

We had Olga as our tour guide and she was great. She had the history of the Gotic Quarter along with the food and the markets. We highly recommend the tour. We were two adults and a 13 year old.
