We had so much fun with this class. Mr. Wayan is a very patient, very engaged teacher who'd show you how to carve and make patterns. The level of your involvement depends on you - you can do most of the work, or you can ask for his help. Overall, we are very happy with the experience and we brought home special, very unique souvenirs. The class is also small (it's just me and my partner) which is great.

Enjoyed the carving, though it was annoying having to organise our own transport - the easiest way by far is to use a Grab car (like Uber) but there’s lots of bad feeling about these cars throughout Ubud and the village where the studio is isn’t friendly to this type of transport. The carving was fun but the man leading the workshop kept taking over, so while we ended up with some great carvings, they didn’t really feel like ours.

He will do maybe most of the work, so be prepared to sit and watch a lot! But in my opinion it's to your benefit because the carving comes out much better than you could have done it, my side was clearly done by me. Left class with a piece made by myself and a local balinese artisan, satisfied.
