Full description
Experience the Balinese cooking culture and Indonesian food making in Seminyak. Perfect as an educational session for you or your group, yet easy and fun. An expert native Balinese chef will assist you in learning the culture, ingredients, and how to prepare and create authentic Balinese - and some popular Indonesian - dishes. A certificate of completion is also included. Your class will begin with a visit to the nearby local market from the cooking class venue. The mentoring chef will accompany and guide you from one stall to the next to find the ingredients which are required for the cooking class. The chef will help you to identify and select the best local herbs, spices, fresh fish, meats, vegetables, and fruits for completing your Balinese cooking experiment. You will discover which local ingredients can be easily found abroad, especially in an Asian grocery stores. You will then later use the ingredients that were bought in the morning market run. After your market tour, you will then come back to your cooking class venue and start preparing your dish. Interact with your fellow cooks and discover handy techniques as you prepare various dishes. Then, sit down to a meal and savour the delicious flavors of your creations.

We (3 adults and a 9 year old) had a ball learning how to prepare and cook (and eat) delicious Balinese food in a bustling outdoor tables. Our quick trip to the food market introduced us some insight into the local way of life. Back at the restaurant, the chef instructor quickly developed rapport with the whole group and really made the experience fun and engaging. I would definitely do another class at this establishment.

Great experience! As a vegetarian/pescatarian. I opted for the non vegetarian option as I wanted to experience the market tour. It was quite hot that day and the market is outdoors so prepare yourself for the heat. The great thing is that the non vegetarian option also included a seafood dish. They were able to cater to my dietary needs and gave me a vegetarian and seafood dish. Our chef and guide Komang was amazing! He is very knowledgable and a true master of his craft for cooking. He spoke English well and was very humorous. I recommend giving this class a try as it was a good experience to learn about Balinese cooking!

I love this experience! The arrangement was perfect! First, the staff drove us to the local wet market and showed us some of the most frequently-used ingredients in Balinese cuisine. Then, we headed to the restaurant and started to cook! There were a lot of participants on that day, so most of the time, we took turn to do the actual cooking. I think it’s nice as it helped speed things up. The chef is funny and knowledgeable. At last, we learnt at least 8 dishes including salad and dessert. Awesome!
