Full description

This 2-hour e-bike tour begins near the Batukaru Temple and takes you past stunning landscapes to Jatiluwih, where you’ll ride to the center of the site. Led by an experienced local cycling guide, you’ll enjoy knowledgeable commentary about this UNESCO-protected area. The road from Batukaru to Jatiluwih features some beautiful scenery, but is very different from the central Jatiluwih area. Ride the easy-to-use e-bike past dense jungle, giant bamboo forests, local villages, rice terraces and vast valleys.

Jatiluwih itself comprises over 300 hectares of lush tropical vegetation and vividly green rice terraces. Following your morning cycling trip you’ll enjoy a tasty authentic Indonesian lunch at a nearby restaurant, or if you opt for the afternoon tour, an extensive Balinese afternoon tea will follow your excursion.

We did the 2hr cycle in early June. This was just as harvesting of the rice had recently commenced. So the lush green paddies were not so lush or green. But this was more than compensated by being amongst the busy harvesting activities. The number of local people in the paddies in conjunction with some at-times narrow paths (plus really sensitive throttles on the electric bikes) made for challenging times. There were a few spills - no major injuries since harvested rice makes for a soft (& dry) landing. Only injuries were to our dignity. Word of warning though... The lunch provided is from a private house in the fields - not a restaurant. Apply your usual cautions when eating meat (here chicken satay) where you have some doubts about its providence My wife did, I didn't. BIG mistake. It tasted great at the time... But spooled what was otherwise a great day. Best bits = the people, the scenery, insights into traditional rice growing. Worst bits = supplied lunch (exercise caution).

It was one of the best tour we've experience in life! The scenery of Jatiluwih was mind-blowing, we went through the jungle, rice terraces, temples and local villages. The lunch buffet at the end was super good, overlooking the rice terrace, what a perfect way to end the tour. Totally recommended!
