Baku: Historic and Modern Baku Tour

1. Baku: Historic and Modern Baku Tour

This spectacular tour is made up of three parts and will first show you examples of medieval architecture in Baku from the 12th century, followed by more recent architectural developments. The excursion will begin by the entrance gates to Gosha Gala Gapisi in the Old City. The Old City is a UNESCO world-heritage listed site and is almost an open-air museum with many sights to see. After that, you will get to see some of the 19th and 20th-Century buildings in the city, which are mainly linked to the oil boom and the history of the Russian Empire. The final part of the tour discusses the Soviet occupation of Azerbaijan and life in Baku today. All the key parts in the old city are covered during the Baku tour, such as the Maiden Tower, Juma Mosque, and Shirvansah's Palace, along with a Funicular ticket.

You can go to Highland Park for panoramic views of Baku Bay from the highest point of the city. Drive to Flame Towers, a trio of skyscrapers - the Towers represent flames and construction of this impressive building complex was completed in 2012. During your night tour of Baki, you can also choose to visit Government House, the State Philharmonic Hall, the Mugam Center, or the Carpet Museum. From Baku: Gabala Day Trip

3. From Baku: Gabala Day Trip

Get picked up from your Baku hotel and drive towards Gabala. On the way, stop in Shemakha for a break and grab a bite to eat or a tea. Arrive in Gabala and head to Lake Nohur, a pristine lake surrounded by high mountains. Take in views of the tranquil setting and let the noise of the city melt away. Although swimming in the lake is prohibited (the lake is also used as a reservoir and provides drinking water for Gabala and surrounding regions), it is a perfect place for fishing. You can also hop on a boat and explore the lake at your leisure.  Then head to a nearby waterfall called Seven Beauties. A seven-tiered waterfall with multiple cascades, Seven Beauties is a must-see destination in the area. Because the trek up the steep slope alongside the waterfall is quite dangerous, it will be possible to see only two of the cascades. Sit and rest in a seasonal restaurant and teahouse where little sunlight penetrates and enjoy the cool shade as you listen to the rushing water of the falls.   Continue on to visit the Tufandag Winter Resort and ride the longest cable car in the world. Go skiing or take in unforgettable summer views of the Alpine landscapes beyond Gabala. Then visit the Gabala Sport Club, a world-class facility that trains professional athletes in shooting, boxing, karate, taekwondo, soccer, and judo. Try your hand at shooting onsite in the place where the national Olympic team trains.  Head back to Baku after an active day in and around Gabala.
