At the foot of Mount Tufandagh, you’ll board a cable card to head up to the top of the mountain to gaze upon the lush valleys beneath you.  Afterwards, head off to Nohur Lake, known for its emerald-green waters surrounded by stately mountains. Hopping in to a Soviet-era Lada car, you’ll mount the hill up to the 7 Beauties Waterfall, named for the 7 stages of the falls. The trip starts with pickup from your accommodation in Baku and heads towards the Shamakhi region. Admire the stunning scenic views of the countryside along the drive and immerse yourself in the natural landscapes as you travel to one of Azerbijan’s newest wineries. Wine growing in the Shamakhi region has been undergoing a new era of development in recent years and the particular winery on this tour was set up to produce organic wines. A wine factory with a vast area covering of 4398 square meters was built on the vineyard within the wine complex and was put into operation in 2018. The winery aims to produce 1.4 million liters of wine per year and harvests an array of native and foreign grape varieties, all chemical free. Enjoy a guided tour of the vineyard and learn about the grapes that are grown here to produce the wines. Then wander around the winery and watch the process of wine production as well as storage in the cellar. Finally, enjoy a tasting session of Shirvan wines and learn about to distinguish the flavors between grapes. After your finish the visit to the winery, you’ll next go to Madrasa village, birthplace of the Madrasa grape, to have lunch with a local family and taste their homemade wine.

Your day will start with pick-up from your hotel in Baku, at which stage you will receive an explanation of what you will see on the tour with the aid of a map. You will then depart from Baku, before passing through the Shamakhi and Ismayilli regions whilst being briefed on information regarding these places. You will stop on the way to see colorful foods, and will also be given complimentary snacks on the way. As well as wine, stop to enjoy some Samovar tea with local baklava. Afterwards, finish up with lunch with a local family. Once you reach the winery, you will be met by a winery employee and guided through the facility where you will see the vineyards, the first wine museum and the process of wine making. Your winery tour begins when you are picked from at your hotel in Baku. You will then travel to the Azgranata wine plant. This winery is the first in Azerbaijin to produce pomegranate wine. Sip wine and enjoy the views at this winery’s scenic open-air tasting hall. After the tasting, check in to the Shato Monolit Guesthouse.  After a good night’s sleep and breakfast at the guesthouse, you will make your way to the Savalan winery. This winery, tucked away in the foothills of the Greater Caucasus, uses Italian winemaking techniques in order to craft a plethora of exquisite wines. Take a tour of the vineyard and wine cellar, and then finish off your tour with wine a tasting with snacks. Afterward, your driver will escort you back to Baku.

5. Baku: Chabiant Winery Tour to Ismayilli with Local Lunch

Your tour will begin as you are picked up from any address within Baku, before being transferred to Ismayilli. On the way, you will enjoy the scenery while your guide talks about wine-making both in general and pertaining to Azerbaijan. You will also receive information about places you pass along the way. You will then proceed to see the wine-making process, before tasting Chabiant wines accompanied by snacks. The Chabiant Winery is located at the scenery of Ismailli Region, right at the Southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus at an altitude of 750 meters. The vineyards here are ideally set for natural rain, with the hills at the perfect temperature, alternating between sunny days and chilly nights. The melted snow from the magnificent Niyaldag Mountains (2,063 meters) is the only source of water, and it nourishes the fertile soil all year round.  The local wine-making history dates back more than 5,000 years, making this place very attractive for tourists. With 250 hectares of vineyards overlooking Greater Caucasus, you will take a tour throughout the winery and visit the wine cellar, famous as the largest within the ex-Soviet Union.

6. Baku: Overnight Organic Wine and Stargazing Tour with Dinner

Start with pickup from Baku at 3:00 PM and begin your journey to the winery in the Shamakhi region, located west of the capital. Arrive at the winery at approximately 5:00 PM and take a tour of the facilities. Explore the vineyards where a variety of native and foreign grapes are grown. Taste some of the organic wines produced on-site, accompanied by local cheeses. Then, enjoy a delicious traditional dinner. After dinner, travel to the Shamakhy Astrophysical Observatory, located in the north-eastern region of the Great Caucasus Mountains. Located on the eastern slope of Pirqulu, the observatory is situated at a height of 1,500 meters above sea level. Take a tour of the observatory, followed by 2 hours of stargazing with a telescope. Enjoy the clear night sky, ideal for spotting the constellations. After your stargazing experience, be taken to a hotel in Shamakhi, where you will enjoy a relaxing overnight stay. Enjoy breakfast the following morning, and check-out at 10:00 AM for your return journey to Baku, where you will arrive at midday.

It was a fantastic private tour finally & well guided. Gabala & cable car both were fabulous. I enjoyed the magnificent snow fall over the mountain top at Tufandag which will be memorable. After Gabala, Lake Nohur was also really beautiful to visit. Guide was so good.
