From Baku: Gobustan Day Tour

1. From Baku: Gobustan Day Tour

Get picked up from your hotel in Baku and head out for a day of exploration at Gobustan, an open-air museum featuring more than 6,000 rock paintings and petroglyphs. Visit an archaeological site first discovered in the 1930s that is still being excavated today.  When you arrive at Gobustan National Park you will understand why the place is named for the Azerbaijani word for narrows and ravines. Admire the craggy rock faces that recede into dramatic fissures. Learn how a prehistoric civilization thrived here, producing the thousands of rock paintings the area is known for as well as a number of ancient dwellings and more than 100,000 artifacts. See the difference between the oldest drawings dating back 20,000 years and the newest ones from the first century AD. Earlier imagines depict the hunt for mountain goats and ritual dancing with spears while images from the later period show battle scenes, collective labor, harvesting, and women by the hearth. Check out other significant images showing boats with oarsmen, which prove that the early occupants of the area were sailors. Locate the Latin inscription discovered at the foot of Mount Boyuk-dash, which testifies to the presence of Roman legions near Baku. Visit the park's 3D Bio Museum to immerse yourself in the history of this incredible site. Learn about other similar archaeological sites around the world and visit the 3D cinema for an immersive educational experience. Take your time wandering through the museum’s permanent exhibition, which includes 12 rooms displaying and highlighting the significance of the Gobustan petroglyphs. After you've steeped yourself in culture and traditions of prehistoric Gobustan, check out the numerous mud volcanoes in the park. With approximately 350 of the 800 existing mud volcanoes in the world, Azerbaijan takes first place as the site to see these unique geological formations. See the high concentration of active mud volcanoes in the Dashgil Group situated to the east of the Gobustan museum. Head back to Baku after a day of mind-blowing discovery.

Baku: Old City Walking Tour

2. Baku: Old City Walking Tour

Your walking tour will begin around Fountain Square, which is a public gathering place, especially after business hours and during the weekend. It is an attractive tourist destination with many boutiques, restaurants, shops, hotels, and passages. This is one of the most crowded and lively places in the city, and is great for people watching. In the evening you will find many locals strolling about. The square is also referred to in popular culture as Torgovaya Street, running parallel to Baku Boulevard. This square is also the location where the city authorities hold many public festivals, shows, and celebrations. From here you will move on to explore the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, a 15th-century palace built by the Shirvanshahs and described by UNESCO as "one of the pearls of Azerbaijan's architecture". It is located in the inner city of Baku, and together with the Maiden Tower, forms an ensemble of historic monuments inscribed under the UNESCO World Heritage List of Historical Monuments. Whilst here you will visit souvenir stores, carpet stores, antique shops, and local handicraft markets. Your tour will then advance towards Iceri Seher, the Old City or Inner City, and the historical core of Baku. The Old City is the most ancient part of Baku, which is surrounded by walls and well protected. In 2007, the Old City had a population of about 3,000 people. In December 2000, the Old City of Baku, including the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and Maiden Tower, became the first location in Azerbaijan to be classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

From Baku: Gabala Day Trip

3. From Baku: Gabala Day Trip

Get picked up from your Baku hotel and drive towards Gabala. On the way, stop in Shemakha for a break and grab a bite to eat or a tea. Arrive in Gabala and head to Lake Nohur, a pristine lake surrounded by high mountains. Take in views of the tranquil setting and let the noise of the city melt away. Although swimming in the lake is prohibited (the lake is also used as a reservoir and provides drinking water for Gabala and surrounding regions), it is a perfect place for fishing. You can also hop on a boat and explore the lake at your leisure.  Then head to a nearby waterfall called Seven Beauties. A seven-tiered waterfall with multiple cascades, Seven Beauties is a must-see destination in the area. Because the trek up the steep slope alongside the waterfall is quite dangerous, it will be possible to see only two of the cascades. Sit and rest in a seasonal restaurant and teahouse where little sunlight penetrates and enjoy the cool shade as you listen to the rushing water of the falls.   Continue on to visit the Tufandag Winter Resort and ride the longest cable car in the world. Go skiing or take in unforgettable summer views of the Alpine landscapes beyond Gabala. Then visit the Gabala Sport Club, a world-class facility that trains professional athletes in shooting, boxing, karate, taekwondo, soccer, and judo. Try your hand at shooting onsite in the place where the national Olympic team trains.  Head back to Baku after an active day in and around Gabala.

Baku: 3-Hour Private Night Tour (Yanardag & More)

4. Baku: 3-Hour Private Night Tour (Yanardag & More)

Be met at either your apartment in Baku, the airport or your hotel lobby. Then, you will proceed with your tour in a vehicle tailor-made to comfortably transport 4 persons. For a group of 5 to 8, you will use the Mercedes Vito minivan. The cars are spacious, impeccably clean and powered by a strong air-conditioner.  Once the sun goes down, that when the city of Baku truly dazzles. Baku is in the midst of a rather extensive and expensive beautification process. While a current visitor to town is likely to see fenced off parks and caravansaries and such as part of the project, the night lighting will help one forget it. The majority of historical buildings in the city center are targeted with upward flood lights. Normally, one might think something like that is a little tacky, if not completely tasteless but for Baku, it works. Everything from Maiden's Tower to the old city walls to museums to government buildings all have the electric lightning. Stop at Highland Park, Flame Towers. Walk around the park and take superb night photos of Baku. Then, drive through the city and stop over at Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center. Your last stop will be Yanardag (burning mountain). The city is just an amazing thing to explore when it's dark.

Optimal help and support on site, as well as from Germany with WhattsApp support. Our guide Rauf was highly motivated, entertaining and informative in perfect English. Telephone contact with him was also problem-free. There were only two of us, and we were able to enjoy the excursion with our guide beyond the booked time. Highly Recommended.

Trip was organized perfectly, the whole team made sure everything is done perfectly fine to the smallest details including music in the car during the whole tour. All you need to do is, to sit back and enjoy the new experience!
