From Avignon Private Guided Bike Tour Around St Remy

1. From Avignon Private Guided Bike Tour Around St Remy

Get picked up from your hotel in Avignon or the surrounding countryside (within 25 kilometers of Avignon) and transfer to Saint Rémy de Provence during a 30-minute drive, where you will be equipped with a high quality hybrid bike or e-bike, a helmet and a saddle bag. Your guided bike tour will take you through a picturesque countryside of olive groves, farmhouses and lone cypress trees, just as Van Gogh painted them during his stay in Saint Rémy. After passing sleepy villages, a short climb leads you up to the Monastery of Saint Michel de Frigolet, where you can choose to enjoy a picnic lunch with fantastic views of the plains (lunch not included). Return to the plains where you will pass a goat cheese farm, bull farm and an olive mill before returning to Saint Rémy. There is also a lovely Wednesday market that covers the entire center of the village. The riding is mostly flat around the countryside of Saint Rémy. If you would rather have a restaurant lunch, there are plenty of options along the cycling route (to be discussed with your guide, not included). The total ride is 45 kilometers and suitable for beginner riders. There is also the possibility of using e-bikes to make the riding easier (with a small supplement).

From Avignon: Private Guided L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue Bike Tour

2. From Avignon: Private Guided L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue Bike Tour

You will be picked up from your hotel in Avignon or the surrounding countryside (within 25 kilometers of Avignon) and transferred to the village of L'Isle-sur-La-Sorgue (45 minute drive) to begin your guided bike ride. Surrounded by the clear and emerald waters of the Sorgue River, you will find the village streets lined by quaint cafés and waterwheels. Your guided bike ride will take you off the beaten track along seldom-used country lanes, lined by fruit orchards and farmhouses. Cycle past sleepy villages on your way to the source of the Sorgue River: the mysterious spring of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. Have free time to visit the spring and enjoy a leisurely restaurant or picnic lunch (not included) before looping back to L'Isle-sur-La-Sorgue by bike. On Sunday, there's a lovely market that covers the entire center of the village. In L'Isle-sur-La-Sorgue, you will be fitted with a high-quality hybrid bicycle, a helmet and a saddle bag. Wear bicycle specific clothing (bib shorts and a cycling jersey), but comfortable gym clothes will be sufficient, and running shoes for the flat pedals. It is also recommended that you bring a rain jacket, in case of bad weather, that you can store in your saddle bag.  The riding done will be mostly flat around the countryside of L'Isle-sur-La-Sorgue through fruit orchards and small country lanes. There will be a 1 kilometer hill before reaching the village of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, where you'll pause at length for lunch. Choose to eat in one of the many restaurants in town or get a picnic to eat by the banks of the Sorgue River. Lunch will not be included. After lunch, return to L'Isle-sur-La-Sorgue by bike finishing your loop. You will then be driven back to your hotel in Avignon by 17:00. The total ride will be 30 kilometers of mostly flat terrain with one hill of 1 kilometer along the way (it will be possible to dismount and walk along this section if necessary).
